Regarding that specific deal, if you can call it that, I was told directly, by a Thomas engineer whose first name is Dennis, that Thomas could in fact build a functional work-alike for the Panasonic 180DMB and P19LCP class tubes. Electromagnetic focus.
He did not tell me or even imply that his company only had the capability to make ES tubes. In fact, until now, I had not heard
of that, and only heard it from you, Terry. It's news to me as of now.
Incidentally, Thomas DEFINITELY makes EM focus tubes and has done so for several years. Were they making them at the
time of that first trainwreck? I truly do not know. But I have some examples of a LUG-equivalent EM focus tube that they
made for L3 Communications, Link Simulation division, that reportedly give very good performance when adapted into an
AmPro or even a Marquee, though the Marquee adaptation requires considerable neck card modification as the pinout is Sony
rather than MEC. My report that they give good performance comes from another one of our forum members who got a set
from me and is using them. I can only trust his opinion.
But what the heck...it's all past history. Let it be.

As I understand it from one of your customers who was some of the Thomas LUG's he is having a difficult time getting them to focus. You might want to have another talk with him about that.

One of them is apparently gassy. I'm sending him a replacement, my last green that I have available from the last lot.
He did report to me that after he made some adjustments, two of the three tubes are quite sharp and very satisfactory.
As I just said, he's got a replacement green coming to him now. I already replaced the blue (definitely the one he got
was bad, I believe it was handling damage-induced, but who knows when it happened?) for him, and now the green, and at no charge to him, even
though when I sold them I clearly stated that I can offer no warranty of any kind as I've never seen them run and have no
way to test them.
If I have to, I'll send him every tube I've got until he's got a fully satisfactory set. I hope just this one green actually does it,
but time will tell.
