Man, Dr. BBQ I was really trying to come. I even had my hand on the trigger to buy a plane ticket this morning. Unfortunately, I had a client that has a big rush job. I will be working both Sat and Sun.

Anyway, everyone have a great time. I will probably call Rocco tomorrow to check in.

There was a Beef Briskit incident. Involved an empty pan on the floor when the movie was over and this suspected culprit; strangely there was no left over Beef Brisket to be found:

A Brief History Of The 6th East Coast Blendzilla Meet:

Steve Burgess and I spent Wednesday evening and Thursday morning taking most of the outer covers off both projectors, checking the magnetics setup on both projectors, then putting the projector covers back on. We made no changes to any of the magnetics (until later).

Thursday afternoon, we re-did the lens focus, electronic focus, Scheimflug, and astigmatism. This pass made major improvements in both projectors.

Friday morning we set up up my little BenQ W1000+ digital projector, to use an external geometry reference for setting geometry on the projectors. This took 4 hours, for a bunch of stupid little reasons. Friday afternoon, Steve and I re-did the geometry on both projectors, aligning an external cross-hatch pattern displayed by the Electrohomes via the Oppo BDP-83 to the same pattern displayed by the BenQ. It took about 2 hours to nail the geometry for both projectors. During this process, we noticed, on the right projector, that the red and blue crosshatch patterns were slightly rotated from the green crosshatch pattern. It was at this point that we got back into the coils, and rotated the deflection yokes on the red and blue CRTs to horizontally align all 3 crosshatch patterns. Finally, we converged red and blue to green on each projector.

Just when we were done with convergence, Ken Whitcomb showed up. We went out to dinner at the Red Fox Inn, the oldest continuously operating Tavern in the US. A great meal was had by all.

Friday evening, after dinner, Ken made a first pass through the gray scale calibration. (We did down an entire bottle of Dows 2003 Tawny Port during this process.) Saturday morning, Ken completed the gray scale calibration, and setting up the blend zone.

Meet attendees started showing up around 11:30 AM. Don Wallace arrived with BBQ at about 2 PM. A truly wonderful meal was had by all, including Peanut, the Dog.

After late lunch/early dinner, we went down to the Home Theater and watched Paul, then Oblivion.

A great big thank you to Steve Burgess for flying in from New Mexico for the Meet, and spending 2 days with me on the magnetics, focus, Scheimflug, astigmatism, geometry, and convergence. An equally big thank you to Jeremy and Melanie for driving down from Toronto/Vermont, bringing a case of wine, and taking pictures to docuement the Meet. A monsterous thank you goes out to Ken Whitcomb for driving over from Indianappolis, on his way to Boston, and doing a kick-ass gray scale calibration. The final thank you goes out to Don Wallace, the BBQ King, for making his standard "best in the world" BBQ beef brisket, pulled pork, corney bread, cowboy baked beans, and fresh key lime pie. Peanut approved. No beef brisket was left over after the making of this Home Theater Meet.

The Last East Coast Blendzilla CRT Meet was a success.

Below are some screen shots from this morning. First thing we did this morning was improve the blendzone, by increasing its size, then further modifying the spline curve values. The horizontal yellow, blue, white, or green band is an artifact of the camera, and is not real on the screen.

Many thanks again William. Awesome meet. We had a great time!

Since we last saw you we did the Udvar-Hazy, turned upside down, saw the space shuttle and the concord as well as the freakin' ENOLA GAY!
Did Washington DC on foot (!), visited Lincoln's and the Washington Monumenst and had dinner in Baltimore. These last two days shaped up to be most interesting and very memorable. Also shot Instax Mini ( polaroid ) and 2 1/4x2 1/4 Fuji and Ilford. One guy really liked the classic camera too.

Glad to see everyone again. Steve, Ken Great to see you guys and the blend one last time and listen to the incredibly clean sounding speakers.
Hope to see you again sometime. Melanie says pet Peanut for her and thanks!

Peanut the Dog is currently litterally and figurately in the dog house, and likely to not get petted for a while. My current Peanut greeting is "Bad Dog" in my best Earl Jones voice.

We arrived home at 10:45 EST. Great drive. Almost went to Philly for a Cheese steak but wanted to get home faster.

9 hours from Baltimore. Heavy rain and lots of bad drivers, but I wouldn't trade that weekend for anything!

BTW Mel and I were talking in the car. We think you should re-name Peanut to Brisket. Whadayathink? Wink

So, sorry, but I don't have any pictures, but the gathering was short and "bitter sweet" for me. Missing our bigger than life friend, Cliff.

It was GREAT seeing William, Jeremy (and meeting his wife), Ken and Steve. I hope the food was as good as I had anticipated. It seems that "peanut" thought so. Wink

The blendzilla was the best I have ever seen! Excellent job from Steve, William and of course Dr. Ken!!! Also, as some of you know, my favorite is the sound. Oh My Goodness!!! Mark Seaton sound systems are out of this world!!!! I would love to have about 6 hours, and 4-pack of Dog Fish Head 120 minute IPA, in that HT room with nobody to say anything about how loud it was!!!! David Gilmour, SRV, Cream, and others, here we come!!! Loud and clear!!! Cool

Very fun time as always at any HT meet. Oh and BTW, that pic of Ken shooting pool, well, I sank him!!!

Very Happy

Your beef brisket, pulled pork, corney bread, and cowboy baked beans were out of this world, as usual. As was Sandy's key lime pie, with fresh key limes from your sister's place in Florida. I am so glad we were finally able to make contact. You about done with my replacement beef brisket?
