Which ones flash or change when you attempt to power up the projector?

Hi,
If the standby LED is flashing, the LVPS won't produce enough standby power for powering up anything. I see two possible causes.
1. A short in one of the rails connected to the standby section of the LVPS: +5Vsb/+12Vsb/Heater voltage
2. A defective standby section in the LVPS
The easiest and safest way of handling this situation would be replacing the LVPS. I wouldn't trust a 15+ years old LVPS anyway...

He could try to pull the P14 (heater plug) as that is the biggest load on the standby section. If it would stay solid with P14 unplugged he even can try to switch on the projector without the fear of causing serious damage even if the LVPS is weak / faulty.

none of the lights flash or show up besides the standby when trying to power up the unit while clicking.
I checked it while it was unplugged from the unit and the fans and everything seem to work just fine.
just when I cleaned up and installed it back into unit I still have the clicking.
when I install the LVPS all lights on it turn on initially then its just the far red led light that flashes on the LVPS (closest to the plug in)

If the LVPS does not click when not connected to the projector does that completely rule it out?
Is there anything else that I could check elsewhere for connections
Any help would be appreciated, as I am stuck and don't know what else to look for to fix

Sorry, missed a bunch of posts here.
What to do now is pull or disconnect the modules one at a time. Common problem modules would be the CRT video boards/CRT sockets on the back of the tubes (make sure you put the white wire back on the right pin!), and the focus board. Less common would be the back heatsink assembly.
The only board you can't pull out is the CLM board, the one with the red error LEDs on the back.
Make sure the set is unplugged before you pull or reinsert boards.
What you want to have happen is that the LVPS turns on the fans at full speed, and that the fans in the belly of the unit start to spin. Once you pull out the bad board, you should be able to do that, and then you've found your shorted board.

did everyone forget the rod of error LED's on the LVPS itself? that would narrow it to down a specific voltage rail.
my bet is either a neck-board or focus board .

I stated that on earlier post.. Not sure if anyone seen it but when I plug it in all of them flash during like the first click then it is the furthest right is only one that flashes when clicking
I have mine hung on ceiling for clarification so would be far left if on floor

Dragan, I've never bothered with those lights. He doesn't have the service manual, and by the time you look at it, check a thousand pages which voltages feed what, you may as well pull boards.

What he's experiencing is consistent with a weak LVPS. It runs with no load but ANY load will drag it down.
At its age it's a miracle it works at all. I've NEVER seen one last this long. (Working on the assumption that the LVPS is original to this 8000 chassis, making it not less than 22 years old.)
I'll bet you a dozen of your favorite donuts that a new LVPS solves most of the problems if not all of them.

Well, that is possible as well, although I haven't had that issue before. Someone messaged me the other day about a circa 1992 vintage Marquee that was still going strong, and my highest hour one was at 73,000 hours. I'd still go through the board disconnection process first before ordering a replacement supply.

I took a bunch of pictures of the tags and stickers on it but I can't seem to post them
It does have writing on the HPVS looks like it has 11-2012. 34.0 Kv written on it
But the LVPS just has the original tag and serial

My Money's still the focus board, and also the easiest to unplug. They even had a tech bulletin related to this failure and that rail

Hello
Remove all upper covers next to the red tube and see if the wired keypad cable or IR sensor cable is tie-wrapped against a sharp metal edge; it may be shorting your standby power to ground.
