It's been years since I've been to Tim's place, but I doubt the viewer is 16 feet from the screen. As I recall, Tim's blend was plenty big for his space.

Screen's on the wall with the projectors between the couch and the screen from the looks of it (?) so that's where I got ~ 16' from head to the 9 wide screen. "Just enough legroom" to me means between the couch and the backs of the projectors.
When I look at his pictures, the projectors are pretty much exactly where I'd want to put the couch for an immersive experience. To each their own of course, but for me 16' back from a 9 wide screen is too narrow of a viewing field. (I'm 11' back from an 8' wide screen on my setup).

Hm, Tim'll have to chime in. Usually a single projector is in the 1.0-1.2x sweet spot, but blends mount the projectors much closer. So if there was "just enough legroom" behind them, you might easily be at a good immersive distance. But if the sofa is backed up to the wall...

Yep! I tried to find the picture of me standing in front of your screen, but then I realized this was it. D'oh!! That's what I get for reading on an iPad....
So is the couch 17' from the screen? You said the screen is 107" wide = 8.9'. That would be 17 / 8.9 = 1.91x screen width. Kal has his screen at 1.375x, and mine is about the same. So your screen is quite large, but if you sit that far away from it, it will actually look narrower to you than Kal's or mine. If that's how you like it, then great! Some of us just prefer a larger, more immersive view.

Yup. That's what I was getting at. Screen size is meaningless by itself. It has to be given in context which means with the seating distance included. The two things work together. For example, a 20 foot wide screen at the movie theater may seem big if you're standing next to it, but not so much if you have to sit 60 feet back. That would look the same as me sitting 24 feet from my 8 foot wide screen.
Do what works for you of course! That's really all that matters.

I just sent an invite to Gary Reber and the entire crew at Widescreen Review, so we'll see how that goes. Some of these folks ooh'd and aah'd when reviewing DVDs on their Vidikron Vision One and VP5000 scaler back when, so this should be interesting.

Guys
My Analog Way NeXtage processor is here and Dan Benjamin at Analog was kind enough to step me through the blend setup over the phone. Same controls as the DVX I already own, but different ways to get at them.
NeXtage is a very powerful feature-laden system with a 20% sharper image than DVX, and we believe it is 4K-ready, waiting only for Moome to give us a 4K-capable MUX device.
I'll put up some pictures later of the iMac screen used in setup; we go in by Ethernet and IP address. There are room reflections on the iMac screen so I want better pictures than that when it gets dark outside.

Guys
Setting up the NeXtage processor was easier than I had imagined. All adjustments are by PC ported to the Ethernet connection on the back of the NeXtage, followed by entering an appropriate IP address if needed, done on the front panel of the NeXtage with a control knob, a few buttons, and the LCD screen. The NeXtage shows up on the PC like a website that prompts the user through the setup steps.
With the bandwidth increased over my DVX of 12 years ago, and a twenty percent sharper picture, I gotta get one of these!
The rear panel has connectors in and out for nearly any situation. Steve and William are arriving late this afternoon, so stay tuned and we will keep you updated.
