FH Video 'warranties' all of their units from parts stock of other NOS units they have in stock, limited to the parts they have at hand.

FH Video primarily sells to the Asian markets only, where people will pay a premium. That's where the last Runco 1200 and a bunch of G90s/909s went to from me..

Yes, if you do have the crate for your G90, save it. If you have the space to store it, do so.

It is a LOT of work to make a new pallet/crate for a projector. I would know, I just made one for a G70 that's going out in a few days, and while it was kind of fun to make it and figure out ways to make it both good and cheap, I'd much rather have had an original G70 crate to stuff it into.

The size of a well bubble wrapped projector on a pallet vs. the size of a crated projector on a pallet doesn't affect shipping costs very much. It's a combination of weight and volume that drives cost. I don't know the actual formula they use, though.

I would LOVE to have an original crate for every G90 that I will eventually sell. But I'm not paying hundreds for one and still more hundreds to have it shipped here.

It costs as much to ship a G90 crate with no G90 as it does to ship a G90 in its crate. Or very nearly so. I checked.
Because I found an empty crate for sale. So I freightquoted it. Not a lot of difference.

Fortunately all my G90s have enough hours on them that IC421 failures are, dare I say it, unlikely. Not impossible but they've
got enough time on them that if they were going to fail, they'd probably have done so already.

IC421 is the equivalent of the IMS bearing issue on first gen water cooled Porsches. It may never happen. But if it does, you have no reason to be happy about it.,

That green 11 error may be more serious than just a bad Dallas chip. As I have been told, it's a loss of firmware and if the problem
that caused it isn't fixed, simply reloading the firmware via PC is no fix. It'll happen again until the root cause is fixed.

I trust the person who told me that. He knows WAY more about the G90 than I ever will.

So obscure its not even listed in the operators manual. Strange it would be green though if you're right.

That generally is a bad YA board. So the set is defective in some way, shape or form.

That would make sense since the YA generates the error codes.

Chris sent the seller my way and the seller says he is sending me the YA board for repair. Green error 11 is "emergency mode" and means that the projector has lost the firmware which is not located on the Dallas chip. The projector first starts up the CPU (red 88 then orange 88) and then loads the firmware. This all takes place long before the G90 even reads the Dallas chip. The firmware is stored on a 48-pin micro SMD chip which is soldered to the board. That chip may be bad, but just as likely there is something keeping the firmware from being readout properly. I will fix the error 11 and replace the Dallas chip, hopefully with a copy of his original if it hasn't already lost its data. Error 11 can be a real PITA to diagnose and fix.

I'll be truly amazed if he gets his $10,000, after you've repaired his YA board and replaced his dallas chip. I mean its in the box sure, and will be working, but $10,000! WHEW!!!

I think there's a Sony 4K 3 chipper I can pickup for that price on ebay Razz

I hope he does get 10K. That means I'll be able to do rather well on my retubed, overhauled G90s, most likely.

10K in 2017, don't think so. Also see that its closed and no bids at all.

I know people that got a Barco 909, G90 for less than 1K. But we all want to have max.

I sold a new in the box G90 with a one year warranty about three years ago for $6900. That's the last one I sold. The client also bought a Lumagen XE+ from me and had me do all the setup and calibration work and has had me out every year since.

$6900 3 years ago impressed Smile but today might even be hard to get $1000, I would guess. But I might be wrong.

The better part is that he's an awesome client and loves his setup. He upgraded his XE+3D to a 2143 from me a couple years ago too. He's almost got 10k hours on the tubes already so we are retubing soon.

Oh and in the $6900 price was included my custome cooling mods, a new Dallas chip, a color corrected green celement, and I think that was it.

I'm going to find out really soon what a reconditioned, freshly retubed, Dallas chipped and overhauled G90 will really bring on ebay.

I have four good running machines and will be listing one shortly, starting at a low bid price and seeing where it goes.

With it being a certified trouble free unit, all necessary maintenance done on it, I expect it'll reach whatever the max is today.

Guesstimate: 3500.

Sound more reasonable from a company. But still I think way to much for old technology. But the price is what people are dumb enough to pay.

I remain unconvinced that newer digital technology actually looks better.

In fact, so far I have not yet seen a digital projection that looks as real as good CRT imagery.

I am not one of those people who automatically assumes that newer is better.

A friend of mine replaced his RS45 with an RS500. His home theater is excellent and I have his RS45,
and his theater setup is better optimized for a digital projector than mine. But even with the RS500
in his theater, which gives a great image, when I go home and fire up the Marquee I get an image
that is, to my eye, more REAL.

What do you mean, his theater setup is better optimized for a digital projector?
