Well I'm glad to see they went to someone who wanted them, I thought the price was a tad steep at first myself, but if you got them for $2300 I cant say thats a bad deal
Where the HELL are you going to put it all?

As has been noted, the auction is still running so the question is, what's really going on here?
Maybe there are two separate lots.
Maybe someone is scamming and putting up a fake auction.

I have been in contact with the company that is selling these. As of TODAY they have not been sold. And frankly they want more for the tubes than fair market value. Their expectations are unrealistic and based on new tube purchase prices, not on what a tube will really bring in the aftermarket.
So, Jask, if you bought them, you might want to make inquiries and perhaps stop payment on the transaction because you may have been scammed.

What did they want for the tubes? I am sure people will find that interesting.

dammit I need to stop posting from mobile devices with tiny screens...
I did not buy them.
I thought it was pretty clear from the third post in the thread that they were originally from the Canadian government auction site... and ended on Oct 30.... it is easy to look up the final sale price which was $2315......
the fleabay lister, bought them for $2315 on the Government of Canada auction site on Oct 30, and then listed them on fleabay for 45K... they also came with a pile of tubes although it is not clear if all of them are used or if some may be new. I have nothing to do with it, and had been watching the original auction, but as Curt said these are only good for tubes, all the rest of the system is task specific and key components of the flight sim have been removed rendering it electronic salvage.
If you go to the auction listing you can view a total of 73 images including the small pallet of tubes ( 9 green, 11 blue and 11 red ) that some or all of may be new P19LUGs.... those plus the tubes in the PJs ( if they are any good ) should more than make it worth the trouble even if they only sell them for $400 each.
I have no interest and have had no contact with the seller.

The guy's now trying to sell the tubes separately. Sets of obviously used tubes for absolutely absurd starting bid prices, a few apparently new ones still priced out of the market.
Clearly he doesn't know the market.

Have a look at the rest of his listings.. there is a 6 foot 240V power cord ( used) for 55$ !! and sim specific calligraphic cards listed for 3K$ but my favorite is the Simpson analog "military" multimeter.

His prices are so whacked....I think I know that guy!!!! Or at least, someone who's the same sort of "can't be bothered to research market values or at least totally ignore them and hope for a sucker" businessman.

No, I know a DIFFERENT goofball. Nice guy, he's made a mint buying and selling surplus two radios, but he seems to think that electronics get more valuable as they get older. So he's stuck with 5000 square feet of warehouse space that is full of stuff that has achieved a value of pretty close to nothing.

That would be depressing as hell. I recall a thread on one of the garage or workshop forums that followed a fellow who had hoarded so much into his shop that he had no space to work, and it was interesting to see his personal struggle coming to terms with the problem and his beliefs vs reality.

It took me a while to get over that way of thinking, but purging 5000 lbs of CRT parts this summer felt really good.
I'm more or less keeping it down to a dull roar now with all things electronic...I still have more than most people here though.

I have scrapped down Marquee chassis in the past, sent circuit boards to the recycler (all bad ones, only!), taken the chassis down to bare aluminum parts and gotten cash for the metal, and tossed useless dud tubes in the trash (Can't do that these days!), but I have never been able to bring myself to toss out projector lenses because they were SO expensive originally and represent such fine examplies of the optician's art.
So I take the lenses that I'd never use or sell to the local electronic surplus yard and they go sit on a shelf and eventually somebody buys them cheap for optical experiments or just giving hell to the ants on a sunny day. Which is fine
with me, because at least they're serving a purpose!
Right now I have a couple HD-10 series lenses that date back to the AmPro days, some original HD-10s, and a couple of them
have been dropped and had their adjuster bolts sheared off in the impact. This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to take the lens apart because
the broken shaft still inside has to come out before the lens body can be separated from the outer rings.
I beat one open anyway, and found that there's a part inside that is glued in place and the impact knocked that out as well, so
lacking any way to reinstall it with precision (required!) then at that point I saw that these really are non repairable short of
being remanufactured at the factory. Which doesn't do that anymore.
So if you have an HD-10 lens that has loose rattling parts inside it, or has been dropped and it sheared the adjuster screws off, give it to a kid to use against the ant invaders. Because the odds of fixing it are VERY VERY LOW.
