I'll be really surprised if they get $1500 for it at this point.

Guys
It doesn't matter what the machines cost; what matters is the stunning picture
you can have with two CRTs in a blend configuration!

I like CRT, but to use two high end machines plus a $3K+ blender to get a slightly wider and brighter pic at 1080p seems crazy when you can go digital to do the same screen size/brightness (or even larger/brighter) with a single digital machine for similar or less cost. Then throw in the fact that the digital can also be bought to do 4K (to give you the added resolution that would likely be noticeable on a larger screen) and the fact that it won't have any of the complexities of blending/convergence drift/etc that is inherent with a 6-tube setup, and it becomes a no-brainer to me. If I had $10K to spend on a projector setup today and was considering the sort of screen size that a CRT blend could get me, I would not be looking at a CRT blend. Nobody seems to be.
Remember that the only reason to use two CRTs is to be able to go with a slightly larger picture without the inherent lower lumens. There are no other benefits. The cost of being able to do a slightly larger screen requires what I'd consider an unbalanced amount of extra cash and complexity. It's an extreme law of diminishing returns in play here and is why nobody's interested.
Again, I get CRT... I used it for years. Loved the picture. And today there are many still using it not only for the picture they like but also the hands on hobby factor. I get that.
But at a certain point it stops making sense and for many that's probably a cost thing. If you could pick up a Blendzilla box for $100 or so (probably what they should be worth) then I'd say go for it if you already have a couple of good/similar 9" high end CRT machines. It would be fun to pay around with. But $3000? Everyone has different budgets, but for most that's no longer a "tinker around" budget. I don't see that being worth even 1/10th of that cost given the zero market for these things.
For someone new to HT, using 2 CRT projectors plus a blender in a complex setup just to go larger/brighter no longer makes any sense. I'm obviously not the only one who thinks this as nobody's doing CRT blending setups anymore. Nobody's buying the equipment. These auctions on ebay are proof of that. Nobody bought at the $3900 listing price and now it's re-listed at $3000. It's not a question of these things not selling well (low sales numbers), not even 1 single person was interested at the $3900 price which was 75% off MSRP. That speaks volumes. If this thing was truly a great deal it would have already sold. I'm sure it'll get relisted again at $2500, then $2000, then $1500. Eventually someone may bite. They may get more than what it's actually worth which I think is only a few hundred (at most).

Guys
Buy whatever thing you like. This is what I like.
I just added a $30(!) HDTV tuner off of Ebay, not expecting much, but it has exceeded all of my expectations.

It does sound tempting but currently I need more space to do such a feat
I do plan on doing a blend setup before 4K as I am not switching back to digital anytime soon.

I agree the price being asked on an old piece of equipment such as that seems rather steep, especially when you could purchase native FHD event DLP projectors (the 8000+ Lumen barcos and what not) for the asking price of that blendzilla, and those DLP event machines have blending built right into them, and even software to make it easy to setup. I have 4 or 5 machines right now that could do what that processor does and get a nice ultra-wide image for the same cost... and the projector is included. A good example would be a Barco CLM HD8.
However, I wouldn't totally be surprised if someone purchased the blendzilla for that $3000. If the guy waits long enough (could even take a year), he will likely sell it to someone. I have learned when it comes to ebay and expensive/high end items, patience is really the key. You cannot expect a quick sale on something that isn't the hottest thing on the market.
I wish the seller the best of luck on his sale

True. Good point. This is a blend, not a stack.
EDIT: Oops! Sorry Spanky - I edited your post instead of quoting! Some of your other text got lost... silly admin!
