It's a straight trade, Kal. No money has changed or hands or WILL change hands.
I simply haven't been able to afford to ship a bunch of boxes and a set of tubes to him yet.
If this deal had not failed, I could have probably done it. But when the choice is to go forward with the trade, or pay my bills, I must pay my bills.

It is for a set of tubes he has and a set from the group buy that's why it's in this thread. He has contacted me and I understand his position and I'm willing to wait until he gets shipping figured out.

The set I have set aside for you is not from the group buy. Which never happened. It's a set from that first batch of roughly 60 tubes I got a few months ago.
I have been spending a lot of time trying to find a real job lately. And I DO hate it when that happens!

Maybe somebody else will pick it up, but I'm done with it. Never again. I may sell some tubes out of my own stock from time to time, but this group buy of tubes I don't already have in my inventory is dead as far as my part in it is concerned.
Blame VDC for it. They wouldn't agree to fair terms you'd get from even the shadiest used car dealer.
(Inspect it before paying for it.)

I've received information that opens up the possibility of restarting the CRT group buy under FAVORABLE conditions that I will agree to,
which ensures that I can get the right to accept or reject tubes according to my own inspection criteria.
This isn't official yet, but I wanted to let you know.
Apparently, I have something that VDC really needs, and lots of it. So it gives me some real bargaining power.
However, due to circumstances as yet still beyond my control, the price per tube may have to be higher than the previous
price of 200 dollars per tube. It may have to go to 300. Still, considering that VDC's price for a raw new 9" tube is 1068 dollars each,
I think 300 for tubes that are hardly distinguishable from new tubes is pretty fair.

Guys
For what it's worth I am going to try to get this deal back on track for CM by phoning the chairman of VDC, who knows me from a few years ago, and see if he will grant us the right to pick the tubes CM wants to buy. I hope to talk to Ron Ordway the first part of next week and make this deal workable.

That is good to hear that there is still hope. As soon as I get the rest of the tubes for this G90 and my theater room done, I'm going to start using the beast. And the way I hear the G90 goes through tubes, it won't be long before I will be needing new ones.

G90s only wear tubes fast because they're usually set up for high brightness rather than long tube life. You can back them down and get the same tube life as any other PJ using the same tubes, if you set them for the same brightness at the same screen size.
As for the tube buy, if Tim can negotiate the deal with Mr. Ordway we should then be able to make fast progress.
I'm not asking for any commitments from anybody yet. I don't want to get anybody's hopes up only to have this go flying off a cliff in flames again.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!
But, hey, we're trying, for the benefit of all remaining CRT enthusiasts. If we succeed, I expect nobody will be unhappy about it.

But think of the drama! It's like watching an action/horror flick that you cannot predict the ending to! Will it end with everyone dying, or will it end in sweet sweet victory?

Let's be nice and constructive about this, please and thank you.
There should be no trust issues in play here because some people with very good reputations are involved,
and I'd like to think that I'm in that category.
Curt should be a part of it. Tim IS.
Nobody's going to be asked to cough up a dime until we have a purchase order in hand specifying what, where, when, how, who, why, and watever.

These are NOT new tubes. They will be hand selected used tubes that have no visible wear on them.
Because most simulator operators have stringent image quality standards, some CRT projectors used in simulators get retubed
as often as every 2000 hours. And there are always some tubes coming through that have far less wear than that, but were
rejected because they didn't meet stringent performance standards. They might bias a bit off the FAA's specs for a Level D flight simulator. They might have phosphor defect outside of the viewing area.
But nobody ever said these will be NEW tubes. But only tubes that are unworn and perform like fresh tubes will be offered.
If you want to buy REALLY new tubes, VDC will sell raw LUGs to you for 1068 dollars each. You can buy them from their subsidiary Lexel Imaging as well.
You might be able to go factory direct and buy tubes from Japan from Mikado Seisakusho as well, but they probably
have a minimum order quantity of six tubes per color at least.

I'm sorry - but with all due respect this made me chuckle. Only on a CRT projector forum would this be an insult.
Sounds to me like this is going to happen. I hope it does, for those involved and invested.

At this poing I would have to say that we are in the process of clarifying communications between myself and those directly involved, and VDC management. Absolutely no definitive word yet.
But here is something definite: If any person wishes to spend the money required to purchase absolutely guaranteed BRAND NEW CRTs, with 1 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, I can provide P19LUGs fairly quickly. But they're going
to cost substantially more than hand-picked, best of the best available used tubes.
It'd probably be around...estimating, no promises here...1250 per tube. But they're NEW, absolutely, and not rejects of any kind.
