Say CM

What would really get your attention is two 9500s edge-blended on a screen ten feet wide. MP mods optional. You won't need special tubes, but you will have a permanent grin soon after. And that would fit in the throw distance of one 9500 on a six foot screen.

I'm sure! But it's not really practical in my current situation.

I do admit it's tempting, though.

Understood

There is an investment required. If someone has two projectors then one needs a processor; the STE100 from Analog was around $6700 last time I looked; and a 1.0 gain screen, the Stewart Luxus with Snowmatte fabric is ideal, figure $2800. The Moome MUX will switch four HDMI sources and feed the STE100 no problem.

It would be fun to build up a pair of projectors for a blend, but one would have the HR tubes and since I don't know of a second set of them, one side of the blend might have slightly better defined scan lines than the other. But I could always defocus that a bit.

Okay

That's nice but not necessary for displaying 60% of a 1920 HDTV signal. Dunno if anyone has a 4K blender that us mortals could afford for home use

I don't even know much of anything about any current blending solutions. That'd be a topic for research if I wanted to go in that direction.

Right now I'd rather head for a modern scaler with on-board CMS instead. Lumagen-something.

Okay

Hardware used by folks here include the TV-One units, deployed in pairs, and the DVX8022 from Analog France, my preference, no longer made, or the SmartEdge STE100 that replaced it.

Look for posts by wkosmann and Nashou66, they are current users of edge blend systems, among others, for starters.

PC-based solutions are mentioned from time to time, but I have yet to hear of one that does DVD, BluRay and satellite/cable.

Edge-blending originated in supercomputer labs for displaying large images across several projectors, and has seen some popularity in rental-staging.
