i whas wondering a barco graphics 801s is the same as a graphics 801. I'm able to buy a graphics 801 for a steal only it's defect because it will start up but won't light up only light fosfor illumination, but the machine part's are ok i guess. my barco graphics 801s is a ok machine only it's defenetly used and on it's last breath so i whas thinking swapping the tubes of the 801
and putting on the good set of hd8 rev b lenses and using the spare parts if needed.

anybody?

Yes, same set, same tubes, but from the pix you post, the front IR/RS-232 board is missing.

Just open the box and swap them. I did it on my Barco G801s some months ago and it's not that hard.
I could describe the procedure, but my machine was LC modded by a previous owner and I know he changed some parts location.
But open up the box and if you are stuck at a step, I'm sure posting some pics will solve most problems within a few minutes.
I've found that the silicone is likely to leak on mine (and that's why i removed and resealed the tubes into their housings) but could be different on
an original AC machine.
If you could use some HD8B, I have two sets of them in perfect condition and I am in Germany. So not much of shipping costs i think.
Regards, Julian

thank's Thumbs Up that's what i thought but i'm new at this.
only one question what about the glycol is it sealed? do i need to take it out in order to replace the tubes or can i leave it?
and did you mean HD8 Rev B? i got those with the set that is comming in.

When replacing tubes, you can always leave the glycol in.
But look very closely onto the tubefaces and check for yellowing of the glycol. It mostly happens on the blue tube.
Also check for white flaky particles in the glycol or corrosion of the aluminium surface.
If everything is ok, you can leave the glycol in there.
The tubes on your picture look good, but nothing is better than a close critical look.
The glycol is sealed in a flat "aquarium" in front of the tubeface.
You won't spill or damage anything, that container is tight.
I meant HD8 Rev. B, yes. Just in case your lenses are scratched or otherwise damaged.
Regards, Julian

Yes, exactly.\

Once you remove the top plate over top of the tube/lenses, it will be easy to see how to take each tube out.

got some little isseus watching a movie last night:

when watching the colorfull movie prometheus i noticed some color changing with some blue stripe on the bottom of the
screen and then it smeared some yellow and red into the picture for 4 sec. or so this returned like 3 times into the movie
it sometimes also scan's a little wrong by losing the picture and then returns like a old vhs tape scanning for the image

- h/v scanning issue?
- tube time? (replacing time, 20.000 hours on them!)
- some problem wit my hd fury? got it not hooked up to the power supply because
it works without until now?

i just received my spear part barco and it comes with new/old stuff one thing i did is replacing this board just for fun to check if it's all working in my barco but some questions arrived:

on my board there is no white block. only a plate and some new shiny stuff. and the master width pod whas set on my old board to compensate with some width isseus. now that i put my new card in the same width remains? the board also makes a lot of noise when in heavy scenes on blu ray.

i also replaced all lenses with the best of the bunch because my old ones where scratched then i needed to do some light convegence now everything is fine but only the picture isn't really clear on the right side?

is this all a clear case of dumb assesnes on my part? or is this a case of some good knowhow? Embarassed

Aren't these RCUs internally wireable? Did you try it wired?

yep, did it with the back rcu and it worked!! only the rcu with infrared doesn't work you can put a audio jack cable in the front of the projector and wire it to the back of the rcu but it doesn't fit?

I've never used the front connector for the RCU on mine, sorry.
Did you try playing with the protocol switches on the processor board?
Maybe something is configured wrong there.

http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco500_Layout13.shtm

Could be that the remote is set for the wrong projector adress and or protocol.
I don't have the remote control here to check, so i think you should take yours apart and have a look.

Regards, Julian

hold down the ADDR button, and press 0,0,0. That resets the remote to the 0 address, and it shoudl control the projector fine. Sometimes the RCU changes addresses, even when you change batteries!
