Is the shape of MEC and Sony deflection yokes different at the point where the yoke fits to the bell of the tube? Idea

The bell's shapes are a bit different between the two, so I don't think they are the same Keith. But I am not for 100% sure. Ideally, the windings should follow the curvature of the glass. I will check tomorrow the yoke's part nr. in the service manual of Cine 8 with Sony tubes and Cine 8 with MEC tubes.

Thanks Hulio

I can't find any images of the two yoke types that show the end where contact is made with the bell and images from other angles make them look the same. I do know that the bells are different. Thumbs Up

you can interchange sets of yokes, the height and width changes slightly, but you can't mix and match the two yoke types, as the overall image sizes will be different. Been there, done that, spent an hour trying to correct the image. Smile

Actually, thinking about it, I mixed TUBE types for a test set. I know it was due to the shape of the MEC and Sony tubes, not sure if the yokes made a difference.

I have installed new tubes that are not Sony but used the original Yokes and as you say it changes the size of the image particularly the width. I wanted to be sure that these yokes were OK before making adjustments to compensate for the width change as there is a considerable amount of tube face not used as it stands.
