A thread , that was closed, was beginning to discuss the quality between all of the 9" lenses on the market:
How does HD10GT17 (old and new), HFQ900 HD10E and HD 10L (new and old) compare to each other.
What happened to the HD10L lenses as they formerly were designed to smaller screens (< 95" or so) and the new ones that apparently are comfortably throwing images at 110" screens.

My experience is only with an older set of HD10GT17 and a new set of HD10L lenses.
The new HD10L lenses has no issues throwing an image on a 110" screen and they are better focused and clearer than the HD10GT17.

One , I take for an expert in the field, suggest that the new HD10L lenses has superior coating than the HD10GT17 and therefore has better image quality.

Please let us hear from the experts and all of us mortals, that has first hand experience with these lenses.

I encourage discussions, but what I don't want to see here is someone claiming that XXX lens is the absolute best, with no proof. Let's see some test patterns, preferably in the corners, which is where it counts! I do want to participate in this, but as usual, am super busy. I will monitor this thread though..

I just talked to a guy on facebook the crt club and he says he bought the hfq900 for his modified vision 1 and thinks it is a big improvement over the gt17. Another liar? Very Happy

It depends on the year they were made i think. Some batches were better than others in specific lines of lenses.

I also remember some where it was said that the Cine9 had had picked and tested HFQ900's for each pj. They looked for the best
lenses of what they had in stock.

I am under the understanding that these are "based" around an HD10E lens BUT have better edge focus and so "might" be hand picked with the tightest tolerance, or have a "special" outer focus system.
