I haven't looked at Ebay projector listing for awhile. looked today. There's a seller in CA who still has various Sony's for sale that seem like they have been on Ebay for years! I remember the listings from a long time ago.
$16,000 for a G90! $8000 for a G70 And a G50 & 1292 for crazy prices.
Ebay must make a fortune off this guy from listing fee's! lol

Yep. That's Henry Chan of FH Video. He's a big Sony Professional (broadcast) dealer in San Francisco. It's a quintessential big-city store, tiny, packed to the gills, jammed between a Chinese restaurant and some other kind of store, like a pharmacy or medical supply. I remember I was in San Francisco with my dad years ago, and we just happened to pass by totally by accident, and I said, "Oh, my god - it's FH Video! We have to stop!"
The story I remember (though I can't remember who told it) was that he bought a couple of train cars' worth of Sony CRT projectors, which would have been G90, G70, and D50 back then.

They're probably still selling them in China. Curt says he still sells high-dollar 909's and G90's to China.
I think my first ever CEDIA was in Denver, IIRC. One of the fun demos was a completely dark, enclosed room where Henry had set up two darkened pipe-and-drape rooms within a larger darkened room. One had a G90 in it and the other - I think - a Sony Pearl. I think it was 2006. It really showed off how bad digital black levels were back then and how great CRT was. I'm sure Sony was thrilled.
Boy, have times changed in just under 10 years. Memories...

That's what I heard too, that he bought out the remaining Sony North America G90 (and 70). I did sell a ton, and I'd guess/hope that he made back his money and then some back when he bought them, as CRT were still hot sellers at that point. Who knows how many bad IC421s lurk in that pile though. Craig Rounds told me that the later sets had the bad chips, while the earlier ones were fine...

People sware by th LCP tubes and I have the lugs so there is a difference. If your not going to
pick up some new MP Mods I would stay away from the new machine and I believe Curt has great
prices on the LCP sets that are dialed in. Just a thought. |
Think that if you sell the lugs there are a lot of Barco users that would buy. But they have to be cut from the housing.
Is it not possible to defocus the lug a little and get lcp light levels?

They are to expensive. The lug tubes have some vallue but the video neckboards are questionable. Good thing is that with the recent build and little hours the caps should be fine and probable VLC solved some of the issues old sets have. At least I can not believe that VLC sold the sets with the strange issues my 1999 set has. Like the whole video curving now and then and than rebooting to solve it. Drifting because of old caps leaking bellows etc.

If you win the Powerball, you can buy your own Imax theater.

I followed the Govt. Liquidation auction to see how much the VDC 9500LC's are going for. A couple of lots I watched closed yesterday. One lot had 2 used units, went for $25 and the other lot had one NIB and one used and went for $195

No, but I believe you can hire someone to go in and remove the lot then crate and ship. I drove clear out to the East coast from Indianapolis one time to collect the projectors I won. LONG road trip. I did the math, the Oklahoma City auction would be a 12 hour drive for me one way. Considering I could fit 4 in my truck, this is tempting.
