Can anyone tell me the difference between P19LCP and P19LQF.
I know P19LUG have sharper beam and therefore are less bright than the P19LCP, but what about P19LQF?
And what about pinout?

The LQF is apparently Sony's equivalent to the LUG tube. Same pinout of the LUG. The LCP have the G2 pin on pin 2, the LUG on pin 6, so those need to be jumpered.

So it has the same problem as the LUG tubes - less light output?

Yes same question. If you leave the extra grid not connected would it not behave like a LCP?

I personally have never seen a difference whether you ground the unused pins or not. From what I understand, the extra unused pins are grounded to prevent arcing to the video circuits in case of internal arcing within the electron gun. That does happen from time to time.
The overall performance is determined by the ability of the electron gun to focus the beam onto the phosphor, and from my understanding, the LUG and LQF tubes do that better than the LCPs, but.. I am not a tube expert, and haven't done a lot of A/Bing between the different versions of 8 and 9" tubes. Of course, the size of focus yoke and type of software/hardware used to drive the focus yoke also affects the beam focus, thus the demand for Frankenyokes.

Audio tubes come as triodes or pentodes where the pentodes have extra grids. The pentodes are for higher frequencies. The extra grids make for lower Miller capacitance. But it is possible to connect the extra grids in a way that the pentode behaves like a triode. Should be possible to make a lug into a lcp but if noone has done it I do not know for sure.
But I have also read that the extra grid makes a sharper gun image. That gun image is focussed on the phosphor so that would make the beam point smaller. Anyone know if this is true?
