Does anyone know of a source for Barco 1209s c element o rings ? They appear to be about 5 11/16 inches in diameter and about 1/8 inch thick and looks like rubber perhaps.

Hey Tom,
should be available in hardware stores. The sizes are metric, because the Barcos come from Holland.
If you measure them, use inner diameter in mm x "thickness" in mm.

Yours seems to be in the range No. 254-256. (I don't know if you measured inner or outer diameter).
It is always easier to measure the inner diameter of the space they sit in.

Julian, i'm hurt in my ego  . Barco is made in Belgium.
Tom, the ones you need are 139,37mm (inner diameter), 2,62mm thick. So number 161 in the table Julian just posted.

On a related note, does anyone know how to shrink existing rings? I've got a bunch here that I suspect stretched a bit when pulling them out of the housing. I can't cut them, as the glycol will leak out, but if there's a way to heat/cool them to get them to shrink, literally a couple of mm, I'm in.
Tom, if there's a minimum quantity order, I'd take 10-20.

STOP, do not use Nitrile
the only compound recommended for Glycol is EPDM, if used o-rings have grown larger than their original size then it's because they are likely the wrong compound and have absorbed and swelled. There's no way to shrink them nor do you need to, EPDM orings are really pretty cheap, like 10 bucks for 5 typically.
If your using non-toxic Ice Clear (Glycerin based) then I'll need to check the Parker Oring guide

yeah I got a bunch of those , mine are actually 60ml capacity, but still really ssllooowww way to transfer Glycol. I don't have an alternative though, and don't do enough tubes to justify building a pump system.

EDIT: Original coolant was Ethylene Glycol, not Glycerol . If you look in the Parker book it's under E not G

anyway, I Have the Parker book open now, they show 4 as OK for Ethylene Glycol, which is 70% of the original coolant in CRT's. in this order of preference. Nitrile is OK but it's 2nd choice
Ethylene Glycol
1)Ethyleyn Propolyene (EPDM)
2)Nitrile (same as Buna N or straight synthetic rubber)
3)Viton (fluorocarbon)
4)Neoprene
the same for Glycerin/Glycerol , but in this order
1)Ethyleyn Propolyene (EPDM)
2)Nitrile (same as Buna N or straight synthetic rubber)
3)Neoprene
4)Viton (fluorocarbon)
So for traditional CRt Coolant, which is Ethylene Glycol /Glycerin mix (Glycerol) EPDM is the preferred compound. The same for straight Glycerin (Ice Clear) .

The original Barco o rings are nitrile type ( NBR ).
