I never met this man bust just in a few PM's. He invited me to come to the last meet he had but health issues with the fam out west killed it. However When things like this happen your mind races and you want to know every detail with what transpired. Does it matter? No! What matters is the real legacy he leaves behind and the positive contributions he made to friends, family, and others around him. Also important is to support his loved ones he left behind. Money does help but cannot cure it all. The children may need counseling for years to come from this. He sounds like he was depressed and was not being treated for it. I am not going to pass judgment. I would never do this to my kids. I love them way too much to put them through this anguish. But when a person is depressed, the thinking and rational is skewed. Selfishness is what many will call it. But at times in their head they have nothing but love and its their reason for doing it whether it be for insurance money for when they are gone or the feeling of inadequacy takes over and wants what's best for everyone and they think everyone would live better without them in their lives. Suicide out of love as some call it is fairly common but is just a false state of mind.

I wasn't aware of the things NAsh posted , but he tried repeatedly to get rid of his stuff in the FS forum, often times saying stuff like " all this crap has to go now!"
and that's a classic sign of someone who has already planned their departure, loss of pleasure from things that used to make them happy, alienation from family and friends, getting rid of treasured possessions, etc.
It's just sad and tragic, meds and therapy would have helped here just like they helped me, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
I've sent some money to Amy, God bless their family

As someone that has been reasonably close a great number of times myself, no one can ever understand it fully unless they live it themselves. I have suffered bouts of pretty significant depression a number of times in my life, and its a feeling and a suffering that cant be explained to anyone else that hasnt suffered something simular themselves. It is quite indescribable.
This is quite likely the reason those of us that do suffer it, regularly suffer in silence.
Even quite recently in the past few weeks i got so stressed and depressed over being continually bullied at work and having it ignored by those that are "there to help", getting out of life was almost the only thing on my mind while i drove to and from work each day.
To do what this man has done takes some serious guts, its far from a corwards way out.

It does not take guts to end your life...it takes guts to face it when it's not going your way.

Was there an obituary posted anywhere? The funeral home does not have one yet.

One day if we all are lucky and get to Heaven, we will wander around until we find the home theater section... and there will be Cliffy standing at the side of a HUGE screen smiling.
