I just received an acon convergence camera to try out on my 9500 and it looks bent to me? But since I've never had one I'm not sure. Looking at the pic the right side seems bent down to me?

I straightened it out the best I could and set it up it did say it was successful but when it's running the steppers are chattering, is this normal?

They don't work very well on ceiling mounted machines. They are essentially designed for machines mounted on rolling carts. At one time, renting a giant CRT in a steel-rimmed travel case was the thing to do for you business conference or political fund-raiser. The ACON was intended for machines to be rolled into the room, pointed at the screen, and run ACON for a quick and dirty set-up.
ACON's not very useful for a permanent install.

these things are worthless on a ceiling....but they are good for a quick setup on the ground....I think people get these confused with IRIS. Both sorta suck anyway. But I think they are worth some dough for looks perhaps.

Agreed. The ACON, though finicky, works surprisingly well on my ECP set. A quick 'n dirty way to get the convergence 90% of the way there, then touch up by hand. I think it's well worth having.

Mine works just fine on a ceiling mounted projector. You just have to ensure that you start the acon process with the camera pointed straight forward at the center range of the screen first.
After it does its job, I do a few manual touch-ups, but it gets it pretty close.
