I know this must be an easy question for someone on here, just need to know if I'm beating a dead horse by trying to fix this 15 year old TV? I can still see picture it's just in shades of green.

Open it up and see if the red tube is still working.

| Jwoods2112 wrote: | | I can still see picture it's just in shades of green. | not sure how much you know about your TV, but it has 3 Cathode Ray tubes in the back for red green and blue. If the pic is 100% green, then you've lost red and blue tube output. Normally when 1 goes out we tell people ot swap the video neck-board, the small card on the back of the tube about the size of a pack of cigarettes, between a working tube and non-working tube, to see if the problem follows the card.
however you have no red or blue, and chances of 2 separate cards or tubes going bad at exactly the same time is unlikely. My bet is on a problem in the video section.
Have you checked more than source , like cable box vs. DVD player? If it does it from multiple sources, then it's either the TV or cables.
To check the TV, start by choosing a different video input . Sometimes the video input sections are discrete and failure in one does not affect the others. If your using composite video, single yellow video wire feed, hook-up some component video cables , red, green, and blue RCA, and see if the 2 missing colors come back. Or vice-versa, if your using component try S-video or composite

Whether it's worth it is up to you.

Thanks for the Intel guys, may be in over my head but I will pull the back off and look to see if I'm comfortable, regarding this "pack of cigarettes" component, do I simply need to unplug the set, or where do I need to be wary of capacitor discharges back there?

Ok so draganm you're right, not a crt problem, problem follows the bluray player linked to TV via hdfury2 and the dr hdmi products. checked all connections and they are all plugged in correctly, always have had hdfury2 switched to YUV, (RGB just gives me a red snow storm) is one more appropriate than the other for my set? Anyway I guess next step is to test my bluray player on an hdmi monitor and if that works it's the hdfury2 at fault or my cables?

RGBHV or component video (YPbPr ) are both HD capable , but they're the only 2 in the analog domain. Neither one is going to be vastly superior in this particular application, but you will need either one or the other for HD.
Composite and S-video are standard def. Good read here

HDFury2 side switch needs to be on YUV for componet/YPbPr 3 wire input. Or on RGB for RGBHV/5 wire input. If you have the switch in the wrong setting the screen will be green.
Try flipping RGB/YUV switch back and forth with everything on. Also check HDFury2 power. Do you have the power supply? Is it working? Have you changed bluray players recently? Have you had an update to the firmware on the bluray player recently?
Has anything else changed in your setup?

Yes things had changed! So since the problem followed hd fury I decided to go into settings on tv. Sure enough the input I was on was set to RGB and the fury was YUV. Don't know how that happened but I'm sure it had something to do with my three kids or the ex wife, yes I'm afraid I've lost my mitsubishi in the divorce, just get called to fix it. I feared the worst and this thread brought me back to my senses, thanks so much. Now I need to shop for a projector, let me know what bargain to pick up! Cheers!

No time to read this thread, but on the Mits sets you need to have your settings correct. If you are using the RGB input on the Mits it can be set to component or RGB in the user menu. If you are feeding RGB and have it set to component than everything will be greensh and if you are set to RGB and send in component everything will likely be all green.
Check your user menu settings if this is a new setup and make sure your settings are correct in the user menu.
