Is it to rude to ask how much you bought them for? Or is that a close guarded secret? I mean, we all know they can go for ridiculous prices. But I get if you don't want to tell.

Do I... uh... Do I actually use them? Or do I just kinda put them somewhere... somewhere safe... never to touch them... just to realize they are there... never touched after they got put into the box by VDC (at least one of them...)
I mean, how could you ever even turn one on? It's NEW?
That first meeerp... CLICK... crackle... click... when you hit the power button on the freakin BRAND NEW remote that probably nobody but the guy that put it in the box there ever touched after it was made?
Oh sh*t... what if they drop them? What if it's some crazy dude, half-cocked, driving my freakin' projectors around with is dingy old fork truck, crashing them into all the other junk in there??? What if they tip off???
Should I travel 1,500 miles and pick them up myself,or have them shipped???
I'm going to bite off all my freakin' fingernails now...

Wolfman, is it OK to do that? Can we post stuff like that on Curt's site?

IMO. Get a rental truck and go get it yourself.
Cheapest safest option there is around.
You will need a lift gate

Know what? I've never seen them auctioned in their boxes like this before, so I bet there's a fat chance in heck that it'll happen again...
Feel free to delete this post (and fry me in hell) if I wasn't supposed to post it, Curt...
I paid $2,988 + 10% for the two of them.
Not a significant bargain, when compared to Curt's fair prices for great projectors (and I bought one from him too, so I feel ok...) but NEW!
Did I say that already? The NEW part?
heeheheheeeeheeeeee!!!

I hope I am wrong, but I didn't bid because I didn't want them, but also I was afraid they may not really be new. I can't wait to find out what you have!
I'd say keep us posted, but I know you will

You know I thought about that as well... Like they re-packaged some projectors they took out of the simulators just to get suckers like me to think they were new...
Because you're right! They don't say new anywhere, they just say in manufacturer's original packaging!
Ohhh... now I'm getting ready for the sucker-punch!
Bleah...

The only saving grace is that they sure do look new... and it looks like you have to cut the packaging off (see the re-taped seams on the top package after they re-packed?)
Well, I guess we'll see. It will take me about a month to get them here.
Thanks for being 'round to share the excitement with me, guys!

I will give you a congrats!
No, you suck though. The amount you paid without seeing them first is IMO way to high. Hopefully you get some really good machines, but I would never go that high with gov auction. Before someone points out the 909s, I bought those almost five years ago. It was a much different time.
Unless you get really lucky, they will probably have 10L lenses on them. IIRC Scott told me that a lot of the sims are rear pro with small screens.

Thanks Spanky...
10L's are ok. I've got a couple sets of better lenses hanging around here, and I used to use 10L's. The corners do suck on a big screen... There's like a halo of slightly not good focus about a foot in from each corner. Other than that, they're sharp as a tack...
Of course, now I've been spoiled...

Just got a call from a customer. He bought about 20 of them. He inspected them before purchasing, and did say that most, if not all of the sets in boxes are indeed NOS. He thought there were HD10 lenses on them, but that's not right, so I think we need to assume HD10L or curved screen lenses.
One or two sets were HUD units, with all green tubes installed.
He is intending to flip them on eBay. He apparently now has 40 Marquees.. go figure.

He's a surplus guy. Not sure why he bought them all, he knows the CRT market (or lack thereof).
