plain question: the manual says: supports 3 wire rgb with sync on green.
will it accept regular YPbPr component?
if not, what are the diifferences between 3 4 or 5 wire rgb? i know that 5 wire rgb (rgbhv) is regular VGA
if i convert HDMI to VGA and then convert the VGA plug to 5 plug rgbhv bnc, will it work?
im getting REALLY confused as what to get to connect everything from HDMI to component to VGA to this projector

No, component is NOT RGB.
Did you read this?

BEfore RGBHV, there was RGsB and RGBs, the 's' being the sync signal.
you need an HDFury.

also i am trying to find a cheaper option than buying a hdfury, this is because i am in the netherlands and they are not available here.

You can also connect directly from a PC or laptop going VGA out to RGBHV.

When the Ampro was made, component signals didn't really exist in the commercial world that the projector was designed for.

hmm so its either VGA to RGBHV cable for connecting a pc, but for any other device (HDMI) i need a HDFURY?

No, although both Componet and 3 wire RGB put the sync on the green channel they are different signal types. RGB signals have bi-level sync, YPbPr has Tri-level sync.

It's where the sync signal lays.
3 wire combines the sync onto the Green
4 wire has one separate cable for sync. Know as composite sync
5 wire uses 2 cables for sync, one for horizontal and one for verical.

Yes. This is how the HDfurys and Moome EXt boxes do it.

If you have component (YPbPr) and are going to use that get a good transcoder. See if you can find an RTC2200 used.
If you have HDMI available get either and HDfury1/2/3 (beware of knock offs like HDFireFury) or a MoomeEXT HDMI to RGB box.

Well, the original selling price of the 3600 was about $24,000 USD, so at this point it's a bargain.

i am trying to layout a plan, if i like this projector i am going to integrate it into my home theather, i have a mediaplayer, a cable box and a ps3 which all use HDMI. i have a HDMI switch which strips the SPDIF and sends it to my HT receiver system.
what i could do to minimize wires (but then i am going all out) is to connect a wireless HDMI transmitter to the output of the HDMI switch. at the projector side i could connect a HDMI receiver to (for example) a hdfury, and i could connect the hdfury to the RGBHV input of the CRT projector. this leaves me with only the powercable connected to the CRT projector.
however this will cost me around 340 euros
before i pay all this i need to make sure everything actually works.
so first thing ill probably do is pick it up, get a vga to RGBHV cable, setup the projector and watch a movie.
i'll then probably decide wheter its worth the other investment.
i have 0 previous experience with CRT machines, so i dont know how loud they are in regards to fan noise.

Make sure it comes with the remote. If he has the remote you could turn it on there first to hear the fans before you buy. But I know I consider my fans as minimal level. Plus this would ensure it works somewhat. Like Curt already said though, it would be wise to check the tube face for wear.

Just remember this is just a test. I set mine up 'for a test' and didn't get back to the theater part for a long time because I was watching movies

It's a bit of a learning curve but make sure the projector is where it needs to be and squared up to the screen to begin with and take it from there.
Once you get the setup down you'll be able to get a watchable picture in 30-45mins then you can tweak it after that.
I can't tell you on the fan noise. I have fans running here to keep cool about 320 days of the year so there's always fan noise.
It's positively tropical where I am

it has the remote, all 3 of them, it even comes with lens covers. tubes should be new considering the guy who sells it.
ill take a flashlight and check for phosphor wear. its squeeky clean, no scratches and whatever, its like its never been used according to the pics he sent me.

I'm picking it up on 14 March, I need to get a vga rgbhv cable quick I measured the projector from the manual, it fits exactly underneath my coffee table, only the lenses stick out the front.
The lenses will be 2.70m from the wall, will that get me a good enough picture? According to my calculations the width of the screen should be 2m, inch should be about 100. Am I correct?

thanks, i'll wait with that, im going to test it out first, its likely that i am going to go HDMI with it, so i'll need a hdfury.
also: is the NANO GX from hdfury any good? it includes the gamma X function
