The 3600 can't do 1080i? The tubes are brand new according to the seller.

You need a www.hdfury.com, probably the 3. Beware though that I had one here that had H shift issues, and I could never figure out why, or how to fix it.

I commented that it was a low end 9" projector over at avs, since it doesn't have Scheimpflug or electronic astig adjustments. Other than that, they are pretty reliable overall.

I think you meant to say it does have Scheimpflug. Very Happy

Mac should come by a pick up that 3600. He can distract that little PITA dog long enough for you to clean up his urine puddles in the theater Laughing

The basic HdFury 1 kit runs about $99USD.
http://www.hdfury.com/shop/videoprocessors/hd-fury/

Otherwise, Ebay.co.uk has a few around the same price, maybe less.

they have this thing now called the Postal Service that will deliver anything you want anywhere in the world, it's amazing .
and 720P is a higher resolution than 1080i

We'll see, first I'm getting a vga to rgbhv cable and hook it up to my laptop. And see what it does. Then I'm gonna make decisions about the next steps Smile

good idea. a PC kinda sucks for watching movies, some of us did it for years back when a video processor cost $10K and it was the only way to scale up DVD's, but it will tell you pretty quickly whether the CRT is working properly and more importantly if it's really something you want to mess with. The size, the complexity, etc.
If you like it, then get the Fury and enjoy Blue Ray. I prefer 720P for 8" machines, but you can go a little higher too with a video processor, like 1440 x 810 (which is 75% of 1080P)

What I still need to know is, if I have a media centre which outputs only 1080p@60hz via hdmi, will that work if I use a hdfury?

sure, 100Mgz bandwidth will do 1080P but it won't be the sharpest choice on an 8 inch tube IMO.

Higher scan rate, not higher resolution. 45Khz vs 33.75Khz

well that's a matter of opinion , I would rather have 720 lines on the screen all the same time vs. 540 on / 540 off Wink

Well that's the nice thing about CRT, the phosphor persistence smooths out the on/off and looks fan freaking tastic

Sure, it can do 1080i, it can do 720p as well.

If I had a nickle every time seller told me that tubes were new, as much as I love CRT, I wouldn't be here. Very Happy

the proj is set to be picked up tomorrow afternoon, i couldn't wait a week more.
especially not since i now heard it comes with all cables etc and a scaler Smile

so i'll net me a near mint 3600 with lenscovers, all 3 remotes, all cabling and a scaler for 50 euros.
if the tube faces have no wear and it fires up just right wheen i go check it, i'm one happy man.

PICS, EXPECT THEM!
