The convergence should've also needed a touch-up?

The only concern for the HDM would be L2. I'm sure I've already changed it on mine, but not sure what I put there.

I talked with Nash a long time ago but still need to do the CLM and finish my VIM.

Now if I could just figure out the damn Lumagen and get rid of the Jutter in the image. It really is an annoyance I could live without.

Are you able to find any negative visual side effects?
Mike stated there was increased mosquito-ing.
Anything to add to this, from your perspective?

Not that I can see myself. I do have very low noise reduction settings in place on my Lumagen though.

My biggest issue now is the "jutter" I get because of the settings in the Lumagen for 1080P@60. I just do not know enough about setting custom clocks in the Lumagen.

Fair deuce.
Would you be able to do an evaluation at @24Hz and post the results?

I have never tried 24Hz.

Will the Marquee sync that low?

I can give it a go and post results. Might be a few days though not sure when I will be able to find time.

Can anyone report negative visual artifacts being introduced into the picture by the additions of these mods?

Nashou66: Is there a specific justification for 1000uf caps on the power rails / focus amps? And were the voltages changed on these caps, or just the uf?

They look to do the job, but they would have to have near zero DC resistance. If you find the spec sheet post it, it should have the DC resistance.

And you would need a special meter to read very low DC resistance.

DCR of .06 should be ok.

I did not think it would sync @ 24Hz

Increasing the sync as Craig and you suggested worked a bit but I need to recalculate the clock to push it any further I believe Craig indicated. I am just useless with the way Lumagen has designed their firmware. It was so much easier with the DVDO.

I have noticed no ill effects as of yet.

I plan to use Barclay's suggestions on the VDM with the caps and inductors and look into what can be done on the HDM. I can tackle the VIM and CLM once I dig through my junk and what film caps we wanted to add on the ceramics.

Sorry to side track this a bit Mike.

Back on topic now.

New iron portion for my soldering station arrived yesterday. The inductors have been in for awhile.
I'm going to go ahead and build out this board, but won't be able to put it to test / function till I get a replacement green tube.
Capacitor upgrades to 1k uF will be done, but only after the inductors have been thoroughly tested.

Hi,

Earlier in this thread there was a discussion about the possibility of running the FGM cooler by using the right caps on the dynamic focus circuit (a.k.a. selecting the best cap value at a specific scan frequency for the self-resonant amplifier).
This sparked my interest in the way how the switching of capacitors is designed in a Marquee. So I've built a small circuit which allows me monitoring the switching signals originating from the Deflection Processor Board (DBP).
Interestingly enough, the DBP would be able to create four signals and all of them are present at the FGM slot connector. Nevertheless, the FGM makes use of only three of them and the Marquee's firmware doesn't make use of the fourth line either (it's always inactive).
Using my Sencore Video Pro test pattern generator, I made a list of different input sgnals in relation to the switched caps on the FGM. So anyone that would like to modify their values (e.g. trying out the best value for a given input signal) can see, which of the three caps per channel is active at a given scan frequency. Enjoy...

Regards,
barclay66

P.S.: These are the relationships between the Band-SW Signals and the cap part numbers:

C118/218/318, 22nF, Band-SW0
C119/219/319, 68nF, Band-SW2
C120/220/320, 2.2µF, Band-SW4
