Try it.. but before you do. Post a picture here of where you put the inductors in the circuit on the board.

I'm not at home right now, and a terrible artist, but this is what I did.
This is exactly it without a photograph.

Gonna snap a pic of the mod, then I'll try to work out the convergence.
Damn. I feel like I almost need to buy a chalk line and a laser level to sort this one >..>

Took a quick pic of the work.
I don't think I can converge this....
I think I need to undo this.

These go across the 24v traces exactly as shown in the pic.
Open to feedback or other.
Mike, Sent you an email as well.

Repaired the right most trace and moved the coil.
Swapped in new coils from the pack as well.
Redid the installation.

A different result has been achieved.
I think I can converge this

Well, after a bit of work, I now have a relatively good starting point.
I still have to really fine tune everything, bit this is gonna be a good start.
I noticed that with this mod on the Cva, the convergence grid is way easier to manipulate, as well.

I might also have to give the CVA a shot. Still have like 20 of the inductors for the focus board.

After that I am going to try to locate some more inductors to do a mod to the VDM that Barclay had suggested.

I've tried something like this before, but forgot the end results. With higher current inductors, maybe the results would would prove very worth while. Let us know..

This (below) is what I have on my Marquee the past few days. It is an addition to the four large inductors

I had someone over yesterday, and we installed a 4 inductor FGM mod only into my Marquee. Hit the static focus... To a few minutes later installed a FGM that had the 4 inductors and the changes shown. I liked the FGM with the changes shown.

In this circuit change, I've disconnected the Temp Compensation circuit. To include, a link from the Static to the Zone focus stages. We also went further to remove the 10K resistor and install the beads on another long leaded 10K resistor. That was done to help strip noise from getting into the Static Amp Driver. There's also a cap replaced from a .03 to a .039. This cap is in line as a filter to ground of the pulse that drives the Static Amp.

What about changing the amps instead of disabling the circuit? Or is the circuit just so noisy regardless?
I may try this for fun, but still curious.

Do you have to go back and forward between zone focus now the link is disabled? Will try at least the removal of the 2 resistors.

I'm just getting back to the projector to dial in the focus using this. I'll need to get back to this one, but for sure, the 15K has to go back in.

Why does the 15K need to go back in?

I'm going to cover all of that and some more, when I get a chance to write it all up. I want to also go over some focusing tips for 1080P as well. But right now, I get to catch up on a few things..

I'm still have some catching up to do on some other non related things, before I can really get back to this.

From a fully modified FGM (as shown in the picture) it was reported to me that the focus when the board was tested in my PJ, to have had different results when installed in someone else PJ. I initially thought that my particular Barco 909 was the reason for the difference. But later found out after checking my unit out again (it had not been used), I too found a problem with the static focus. It turns out that the resistors where the Zone and Static (R152, R252, R352) link, needed to go back in. I have put a different value for now, but will look at that later as well.

Removing the 150K for the Temp Comp circuit I believe still to be best. But it's removal causes a difference in the static focus numbers, but that can also be corrected.

So far, the bigger difference noted from these changes is a bright image. Not sure why that's the case, but it's also what has been reported to me from someone who has one of the modified boards in the right Blend setup.

So this weekend I'm hoping to get back to this. And that's when I'll need to define the best central focus point for the static focus, to include look at the other more minor changes that I'd like to see happen.
