Hello,

I have a BG808 with clean tubes (1500 hours), HD6 lenses and the Greg Eisemann's upgrade (HDMI port + optimized cards).
I am very happy with the result but I was wondering if it would be worth it to replace it with a BG1209s (with an added HDMI card).
Picture quality ?
Noise ?

Thanks for your help

The 1209 will be brighter and more capable, a couple of your modded boards may even fit the 1209s.

With four "yes" posts, I assume that there are 4 similar cards between the 808 and the 1209s Wink.
I am not sure which one is the oldest product, but I would guess the 1209s. So, are the adjustments more complicated and the software less advanced?

Im not sure about that part, but the 9" LC will be brighter and have better contrast, so its still a step up. The tubes are going to be potentially sharper than the 180DMB22s in your 8" set.

Im not sure why it came up 4 times, the internet in Australia is quite substandard.

Hulio or Keith will know what modded cards will fit from your set.

Lol, that's an understatement.
I live in Melbourne, a major metro city, in the burbs and the max download rate I can get is 200 kB/s, dunno whether to laugh or cry Shocked

One related question. Are the 808 neckboards compatible with the 1209? The input switcher and rgb driver certainly are.

I tried to compare both reference cards and I ended up having only one similar card: RGB Analog R7621055. It seems that the 808sand the 1209s have more in common.
I hope that I am wrong Wink

The port 3 card is also the same, which is where your HDMI is.

The neckboards have totally different sockets.

So to conclude, an upgrade from a BG808 to a 1209s is worth it from all point of views ?

I own both of projectors.
The 1209s is substantially an BG808s with 9" LC tubes and HD10's lenses into ugly box Smile
The upgrade is worth without any doubts.

Thanks.
The picture is sharper?
Less noisy?
As easy to adjust?

Between BG1209s and BG808 there's only one board in common: port 3 board.
Perhaps the dynamic astigmatism board into convergence tray is the same, I don't remember well.
I think that also the controller board is the same, obviously with different firmware and RWI eproms

Between BG1209s and BG808s there are also RGB input and driver boards in common.
The convergence tray of 1209s contain the same boards than BG808s (convergence driver, convergence output and dynamic astigmatism boards).
The RGB output boards are substantially the same, but they have different pinout and his sockets are rotated 180°.

Equivalent in my opinion.

The real difference in these set are the tubes and LC tanks. The 9 inch LC makes a world of difference. The video path is much the same.
