Well boys....now that Christmas is over, i am relishing in what I pulled off. I want to keep the fam and myself happy while I try to work on this theater cave of mine this next year. So for Christmas I assembled an amazingly cheap setup. I did this while my wife did the toy shopping. I was happy to not go and mess with that this year. But what was I going to do? It started with a 50 inch LED at Walmart for 218 bucks in a Thanksgiving door buster deal. All I had to do was get in a line and was guaranteed a screen. And the picture is surprisingly stunning for an Emerson. I then purchase for 60 dollars a nice wide black wood TV stand with glass doors on the sides at a liquidation furniture store. Then as a gift for Christmas my company gave me a Sony Blu-Ray player. Now it gets even better. My cousin gave me a Phillips 5.1 receiver in exchange for setting up his home server. I would have done it without expecting anything in return. But gladly accepted it. I already had 5.1 speakers for surround and used my SDAT towers for the added bigger sound and this setup is simply fantastic for under 350 bucks. It also gave us a place to shove the Wii U, and the Xbox. We used to have them sitting at the top of a old school big screen TV with cables draping everywhere. It sucked. But I unloaded that TV in October not thinking how much my kids were going to be angry with me and nothing to do during the winter months. So now I think I have made up for it. However the wife thinks I spent way too much on it. I might tell her what I spent sometime but right now she thinks I spent well over a grand. The more her and kids enjoy it, the more dad is thought of(blind faith here). In reality he was just a cheap bastard. FYI, I did buy the 3 year warranty on the display.
