I wondered why it had 2 tubes. The article says it's a failover! They must have had pretty bad reliability if they needed a hot-spare to swap in when the first one died...

Up to 60kV driving a single tube making a 4x5-inch image, projecting on a 15x20-foot screen - in 1939 when most CRTs were making like a 12- or 13-inch diagonal image... I'd say the thing was running on the ragged edge.
Says it drew 2kW at 200-250v... So, about half a clothes dryer.
