Ok I know my spare hvps works so first chance I get around to it I will swap it in and see if the issue remains

I think I need to get the power supply for my twin before my marquee needs parts(don't want both sets down)

I have noticed the tubes would get slightly brighter then back to normal then they would get slightly dimmer then back at times before the tubes would randomly blink off

Also every time a storm would be near and lightening strikes somewhere it would make the tubes shut off for said split second (it's been doing that for about six months)
Hence why I am thinking it's the hvps

I also have a spare lvps just in case I need it

Nope

You can see a very faint image on the blue tube when it does this(can't read anything on the screen of the tube to tell if it loses focus or not it's that dim)

The pic above is the brightest it's been when it decides to go dim any other time it's almost black (this is with the lights off)

Might be the G2 for the Blue is going bad in the HVPS. Are you sure you tried the Blue VNB on the red Tube and the red VNB on the blue to make sure its not the VNB?

So I need a new neck board Sad

I bet it might be a loose resistor , one of the 33 ohm carbon comp ones that sticks straight up and is covered with a clear plastic
shield to protect a short from the Metal plate.

That would explain why it was a intermittent issue and seemed to do it the most at first power up(cold)

Is it possibly fixable??

I did have a electronic service manual for the marquee chassis that I found online but I think it may have got deleted or is buried in my laptop's hard drive somewhere as I hav been able to find it (just when I needed it)

Once I had a simlar fade-out problem, and there the 1uf ceramic cap in the upper section of the VNB had some intermittent conduction. It was odd...
