Thanks km987654.

Electrostatic focus is carried out by a grid inside the tube.

I'm getting to grips with this now - I did not know this, even though I have set it up numerous times.

On the focus block of an ES set there is a potentiometer for each color and you adjust those making it a mechanical adjustment.

Laughing Now I see where you're coming from when you say "mechanical". Don't want to split hairs but I'd argue that's definitely a mechanical input but the method of control is still electrical - predominantly I'd say. Wink I'd say both but in the order electrical/mechanical. I just think of it differently I suppose and I'd say we're both right - you may not! Either way you've taught me something I didn't know, so - thanks!

If you want to debate that last paragraph further then go ahead. I'd be interested to see what other people think. Laughing

Just to report, I hooked up the wires per option one and everything seems to be ok. I do have some random crossing diagonal scan lines on the red along with the projected image. I've had this problem before with the MEC on my green. Last time I was told it is either too high G2, a bad Amp, connection of the amp at the socket or dust inside the tube. I'll need to figure that one out. I have some extra amps so hopefully I can figure this one out.

I think those are retrace lines. Curt will know. To me dust sounds like the least likely cause.

I adjusted the G2 and the retrace lines went away. Thanks everyone for the help!
