I don't understand what you guys are bitching about. For almost 8 years, I have been in total ecstasy changing out everything 100's of times on two ceiling mounted Marquee 9500 Ultras. Wusses......................

I have indeed seen a trend in sets that I send overseas..almost all of them are floor mounted. Virtually all in North America are ceiling mounted.

LOL, I guess I need to be more die hard.
One of the things I was hoping for is that '09 vintage Marquees wouldn't need any mods. That would eliminate the constant changing of boards and parts. I would be curious to see how the Marquees have changed over the years in regards to performance.

Dont count on it, as i see its only the neckboards who is different, the constant changing boards is a hobby, just run a standard marquee, keep clean connectors, high voltage cables, splitter and HVPS, and you should be good for a very very long time.
The benefit from a late Marquee might be that you dont need to mess around with glycol and belows.
I dont expect you will be able to see performance differences from 1996 and forward, who can be related to built date.

Yeah. I lift the left projector with my left arm 100 times each morning before breakfast, and lift the right projector 100 times with my right arm each morning before breakfast. Kurt spotted me while he was here. It was nice having a spotter.

Spanky Ham, How many hours do you have on your G90? Is it tired? Do you already have a 9500 and just needed to pick up the 2nd unit?

Dear Spankster;
I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Kurt on this one. In the last 8 years, that only Marquee improvements I've seen have been the ones that the Home Theater CRT community have made.
What's the problem here? Too much excitement in your life? Can't handle getting on the Mod Train?
William

Around 2500 hours. I think it gets a good nights sleep and wakes up refreshed. I do not have a 9500. I have a second G90 with a bad YA board and red c-element. I also have a G70 with a complete set of back up boards.
I can't really say this enough. I have no desire to buy a second G90 to try blending. If I could have done it for cheap, then I would have put in the time to play around with it. I am not going to spend a lot just to have a go at blending.

Well, I know Scott mentioned that he was just trying to maintain the performance of the CRTs since parts were getting scarce. On the flip side, I wonder what year was the zenith of the Marquee line.
I would love to get on the Mod Train. The problem is departing and actually enjoying the destination.

I hope it wasn't an individual, as that is even more than Nash could handle.

I'm a little slow here at this hour.. Basically you need a YA board to get the other G90 up and running? What would you pay for a YA board? I wonder if Craig or Curt can swing you a deal. The YA board failures suck and really puts a damper on the G90. Would you spend $750 to get your 2nd G90 up and running? Some of us have spare parts.. If I have any board or anything that you need I'd pay it forward (don't have a YA board)...

Hal,
I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I am not interested in buying another YA board and c-element to get the second G90 running. If I had gotten the 9500s, then I would have sold the G90s. I would have then had two working 9500s. From there my only real expense would have been the blending hardware or software. I probably wouldn't have purchased any hardware, as that can get expensive. The Ventuz software looks interesting and I would have tried that. If it worked, then I have an inexpensive blend. If not, then I have an almost new 9500 with a back up.
To me, blending looks interesting and might be hobby funish to a certain extent. My issue is I am not willing to spend both a lot of money and time on this. I would have spent some time, but not the amount that William and Nash have. Of course, a lot of Williams was do to extenuating circumstances. Craig has told me a couple of times that he talks people out of blends that are interested. I think he spent a couple of days setting up Tim's blend for reference. As Crabb and I talked about this yesterday, there are people that want to tinker and there are people that want to watch movies/TV with a lot of people in the middle. At the end of the day I want to sit down and watch not tinker my night away.

Looks like it happened again... I tried to grab a set for some more spare parts and they all got overbid. Cost me about $200+ just to ship the last time... $400 for a high hour, burnt tube, HD-10L 9500LC you know nothing about doesn't seem worth it. Wonder who is buying them...

Just hold on there a minute, Hoss. I probably know where you can pick up a used Marque 9500 Ultra chassis or two for a very good price. Just add Blend hardware or software, and wala, instant Blend.
Well, maybe a couple hundred additional steps or so needed.................
