I've tested to put fans on top of the HDM+FGM today and it works very well, with no bending of grid pattern or anything like that, so I'm getting plenty more to cool even further than the 31 degrees it clocks in to now.

I was hoping for much less than the 31-33 degrees but 4 smaller 80 mm fans - or 3 lager 92 mm once - might get it to run cooler still. And considering how dead silent 80 mm once are there's no need for expensive brands like Be Quite there as one can't hear them at full blast anyway.

And holding the Pininfarina top cover in place with my hands there is still no sign of fans scratching the top cover so this solution works fine. And with easy there's also the possibility to raise it several mm if necessary and doing that wont make it look bad at all either.

The room temp. is 23 degrees, btw

And reading this alerts me that I need to get laid soon for this is pretty darn geeky I tell you! Very Happy

From word to action I made the vertical fan install and it works perfectly!

Strangely the HDM is still 33 degrees even with 3 fans on top which makes believe that its overkill with more than one fan as long as it seated in the front opening. The one HDM that I fried is also burnt in that area so that makes perfect sense so I will have a vertical fan there too, but that's for a rainy day.

No need to narrow the tube chamber as squeezing them down works just fine and will leave a small gap to suck air from. I use 25 mm fans, btw.

I will put the temp probe onto the FGM tomorrow if I can find a 3 pin connector to fit the Lamptron.

And I gotta be honest with you.. I'm a little aroused over this. And that can't be healthy.

Could you make a video with sound to give an idea how that spins?

Sure, no problem. I'll do it sometime today or tomorrow.

As for the fans, I don't think it matters to cool the boards having them so close so will get a whole bunch more for the rest. It's just that I have thing for sticking with the same brand, and the best there is, if I weren't I would go for Artic F9 or F12 as they are really cheap and with plenty of them + low speed they will do just as good. Personally, I'm sticking with Be Quite!, but with fewer and higher speed.

In a dream scenario, I would like to have 2x120 mm above each tube + 1x92 mm vertically for the FGM and HDM (half way there) and also 2x120 mm above the CLM + VIM card. The once above the tubes will rest on a foam cushion, and doing so they get to be raised all the way up to the HDM as seen on the photo. That should avoid any disturbance if there get to be any.

Do you have any plans for fan mod yourself? It's quite fun to hush the this puppy up. Smile

I have a lvps fanmod and some cork between the belly fans. When I turn the Marquee on I mostly hear some high pitched capacitor noise but with normal images that is away too. I think I might experiment with the glycol some day. Try the Iceclear. But I did not even try the Vision case so perhaps I need to have some sound comming from the Marquee to know it is on or off
Very Happy

But I have to admit the Marquee is quieter than the Barco Cinemax with a few mods and I believe it can be total silent. I do not want to compare to a G90 or 909.

I made a rather pathetic video, but if you crank up the volume really high and activate your subwoofer you might get some joy out it.

My camera has no mic so I had to use the mobile instead. I used a rubber band to strap it around the laser stand and therefore couldn't zoom in because of it.

The new LVPS still has the old fans on it but will address that later. Those are the really noisy once so changing them will make a difference.

I'll lower the speed on the Cougar Vortex belly fans as soon as I have more and around the bell house. That should make it safe to under-voltage the bellys.

Yes gives an impression. If it save to lower the belly fans it will be absurd quiet. Thumbs Up

I finished the inserting the fan next to the HDM today, but unfortunately it's to close, as I get almost invisible horizontal lines from top to bottom, almost like scan lines, so that's a no go.

But several smaller fans on top seems to work, but I bet the lines are there then too so will probably go 2 larger once above the CLM and or CLM. To bad, I spent the whole afternoon doing this. But doing it this way with the FGM works, so not a complete waste of time.

I installed the new green last night, and of course the image quality went to absolute sh*t, as I don't seem to make lensflap good enough on green. It's very off in places.

Everything is bolted down very hard before hand, and made the gap between the lenses exactly 53 mm to make everything perfect, but had no luck making green sharp all over.. the lower mid bottom is so off that lensflap has no effect at all + off on other places too, but I could hear it making noise while adjusting a bit - but nothing happens on the screen. If I loosen the top plate a little, would that help making larger movements?

I think had this problem before, but not sure. I tested the new coil (the one closest to the bell house) that's glued to the convergence coil (?) but looked the same as with my old coil that's on now + FY, only those two coils are separated by a former owner, with this one you can't as its so heavily glued together.

To boil it down: What can I do to make larger movements when adjusting?

Doesn't matter, I found some interesting threads about it, and think loosen everything might help from reading parts of them, so I'll try it some day. Starting all over usually does it for me.

sh*t, why did I tear it all down before trying these boards on, all I had to do was to wait another 2 days. I'm so f*n stupid sometimes.

But hey.. seeing them all tucked in there makes it easier to cope with.. and so I'll start all over tomorrow and have a go with these!

I can't believe it's finished now. All the important stuff is there and just the exterior is left. But that's for later.

And finally: A big thank you to MP for making these boards! Thanks.
