I have one more question. Where can I get the tubes that fit on the syringe and in the chamber?

I used a tube from a little bottle of spray that I had but that tube is not so long. I need a longer one. Do they sell these tubes at an apotheek?

I think I bought this one myself and it did not work as the hose was to thick. I can't remember the width of the hole but you can measure it easily. 3mm? One of the reasons I bought new tubes from Curt so as not have to mess with this. Ever.

That tube seems to big. I measure 2,75mm with this tube that fits perfect.

Another image of the two finished tubes Smile

This is the glycol from the red tube to the right that I reused and the glycol from blue left that is not so clear.

What would happen if you just turn it up-side-down and let it drip? Is it too much viscosity preventing you from doing that way? Not to mention the filth still left in there if even possible. Good job anyway!

The problem is that the glycol drips all over the chamber that way and it does not vaporise so it brings water to all screws and they do rust. The problem with my small tube is to get the last bits out Very Happy But it works with some patience and care. A few drups are spilled. Would be much easier with a longer tube. Think I can order them in an electronics shop but the last one I ordered did not fit. But now I know the size.

Anyone looking for a cheap solution try this:

Holy sh*t.. I almost had the answer for you with a tool at home. It's a vinegar/olive oil combiner from OBH NORDICA measuring in at 3.00 mm.. Mad

3mm that is close. Most of them are bigger but I have a 2.8mm and it did not fit.

I remember Curt said to get shrinking tube that you use for isolation and than shrink with heat. I can't find the right size tubes.

Besides the width do you know how long they need to be in order to do it properly? I have good tubes here too that could use good a rinsing.

You have to get to the bottom with turning the tube on one corner. So you need a little more than the height of the chamber that is 20 cm at least. Better to have 25cm.

It is not so difficult. Just remember to take the preasure off first by unscrewing the top and bottom two.

Can't find it. On ebay they are very big tubes for fuel.

First off, the best way to drain glycol is to prop the tube up on a table perpendicular to the table surface. I used the foam insert that came in the tube box and a couple of 1-gallon buckets of paint to brace the tube. Then you remove the C-element and use the fuel siphon to slowly drain the glycol into a large bucket sitting under the table. Ultimately, you'll need to tip the tube slightly at an angle to get the last bits of glycol to drain out.

Using a syringe will take forever and a day. Not only that but ideally you need to clean the c-element (and the inside of the LC chamber) thoroughly to make sure there's no remnants of the old (and potentially fungus filled) glycol. To clean it I used a horsehair auto detailing brush, dawn dishwashing liquid and tap water. Then I rinsed 3 times with distilled water and did a final wipe down with denatured alcohol. Overkill- maybe; but if you are going through the trouble you better make sure you do it right or you'll end up having fungus again and need to go through the whole damn process of removing tubes from the chassis. That's really annoying if it ends up being the green tube as you'll need to do your set up over again.

Ok! Thanks very much your way looks much easier. It should be in the advanced procedures. I did indeed end up with a some hairs and a small particle in the red tube but after time they floated to the bottom. But your way cleans the chamber much better. Thanks!

This is a picture of my 9500 frame. If I would buy a 8500 frame for experiments does that frame look the same and do I need another plate for on top of the lenses only?

You'd need new plates for both top and bottom of the 9" tubes.

By the way as you can see on the picture the belly fans also cool the VIM and through the VIM they cool the CLM.

Some creativity with cork. Might decouple the vibrations of the fans from the chasis.

Perhaps this foam below is an even better choise? I will try.

Using Cork is a good idea, but don't forget to decouple the screws from the fan too!
