Those fill holes may still be a problem after some time.

The threads might be exposed to the glycol and corrode .
Some put silicon into the thread before re installing the fill hole screws .

Ok but when the screws are going in the silicon might be scratched again?

If this tube is going wrong after a few years I will replace it with a new one I think.

Well I checked the blue tube today with the lenses removed and guess what the glycol had turned yellow Sad

I think the bellows are still contaminating the glycol. What should I do. Leave the bellows in alcohol one night or just replace the glycol and hope? I rubbed the bellows very long and cleaned with alcohol last time.

Try new glycol. I set clean a bellows in a stainless steel pan for a year and it didn't turn the glycol yellow.

I still say its the chamber it self .

Was it so that exposed aluminium could turn the glycol yellow? So scratches or something?

Did you clean out the chamber very very well? Did you clean out the fill holes and use stainless steel screws to replace the old
black metal screws? Those two small holes are usually the source of contamination. If not cleaned well they will be the start
of yellowing.

Also is that done with a new bellow? The new bellow must be cleaned well to remove any left over release agent from the manufacturing process . That too can lead to yellow and crystals in the glycol.

Have to read this again.

What happened to my vision 1 in 2015?

-The focusboard lost focus on one colour
-The hdm was drifting had to replace caps
-The neckboards failed like 10 times and had to be reverse engineered and repaired
-The vim failed and had to be tracked reverse engineered and repaired
-The moome turned out to be heat sensitive and some caps came loose
-The blue tube has turned yellow again

Any more? Damn Very Happy

I have found that some tubes will go discolored, even after cleaning and changing of screws and bellows. I simply replace the tubes if that is the case.

Also, remember someone posting a pix of a Marquee C element here this past fall, that looked like the C element melted? I had that exact problem with a tube here. White buildup on the middle back of the C element, it almost looked like a stalagmite! It actually ate into the surface of the C element, so that can happen.

From 2010 and already yellow! Shocked

I have a lot of Barco LUG tubes here and the 2004 ones are all yellow while the 2008 ones are still good.

Good thing I documented because the blue was not yellow but had white stuff. It turned yellow with the new bellow. Now it is yellow and has white stuff on the c-element. So I think everything is wrong with this one Very Happy Will make some pics.

So this is my 9500 right now. Still need to cover up those wires but since parts are swapped often this is easier than putting the vision case on.

Blue turning yellow

white stuff floating on the surface of the glycol and also on the c-element. Probable aluminium in some corroded from.

Yes I know the room is full and I do not really want to let one go Very Happy

Great to see how these chassis are made with all screws complete.

On the other hand i just figured out why my other chasis was so sensitive to temperature. From the two flapping screws of green only one was tightened as I fastened that one to get it sharp I did not bother about the other. Now last time after lens removal I redid flapping and fastened both screws as they should and drifting seems gone. It makes sense that the glycol heats and that it pushes the flapping houding when one screw is not tightened. Again something learned.

My blue and red always drift and I lost the wrench that you need to tighten one of screws on them. I'm glad I'm also getting one of those bad boys. But it will be a while.. march probably. It's twice as long to you as to me, so that tesla I want to sit in and have ride before he leaves might not happen. No, I have to see it go for a ride with him in silence.

I bet he drives just for fun and tells his wife it is business. With a car like that I would want to tour through Europe Very Happy
