|
|
I have some issues that have crept in over the past couple months that i wouldnt mind correcting or at least knowing what is causing them.
On the green, I can focus the middle, top, bottom, and some areas of the sides, but adjusting the far sides causes the mid sides to adjust instead, and the outside edges are blury as f*** and cant be adjusted.
Blue and red seem fine though, but when i adjust the edges, i get flashing lines and quivering in the zones im adjusting, forcing me to run abit on the underside of sharp.
Another strange issue, when i defocus green with dot pattern its fine, but defocus with a full white screen and the middle of the green picture vanishes... Over focus doesnt cause the same issue.
Astig works perfectly on all three tubes.

Also, check the 17 volt trimpot. I'll bet it's way off, causing the middle of the pix to die. That confused the HECK out of me the first time I saw it.. on an 808 I think.

Yeah i just did that recently, i lowered it from 18.86v to 17.3
I might take another meter home tonight and test it with that...

I had that same under focus issue making the middle black out with the 17,3 to low. Seems you are to low somehow. On the other hand I had it with dotpattern. Perhaps i have it with full white too. I'll check.

Maybe im not as low as you were, but yes, it seems strange.
I just got home and tested two meters, both read damn near the exact same, so i will open the machine up later on and wind it up abit higher.

Its not the voltage setting causing this, i tested it again with another two meters and all read within 0.05v, so i dont know, must be something after that pulling something down abit.
It was reading about 16.6v on 67.5kHz... What does yours read at that scanrate Tjeerd?

I'll check. But I watched a tv episode last night and that has been some time. Have been playing with Moome settings to many nights. I hate it when something is buggy and almost works. The Cine max just works or doesn't I like that much more

Yeah I reckon my SMPS could do with a re-sleave like you did with yours. The image is very noisy in certain scenes and it follows the squealing.

I still think this focus issue on the edges is due to the stock timings, seems 1920x1080p at 60Hz is the only one to suffer, all others seem to focus ok, swapping the red and green focus coil cables didn't seem to have any affect, green was still sh*t house, and red was still fine.
Harder to pick than a broken nose really....

Might be that 300VM cap. If the esr gets to high it might be limited in current?

There is no 32kHz test pattern, there is 2 31.5kHz patterns, but no 32kHz pattern. I dont have a source that puts out 32kHz though either, all i have in that region are 31.5kHz.
It was originally 18.86v with the 31.5kHz pattern, lowering it to 17.3v was clearly too low, alot of issues were present after it was that low, and i couldnt get the colour balance right either. White and black crush, picture wasnt bright enough, you name it.

That brings my on an idea to try 18V with mine perhaps it solves the streaking issue. I noticed that the voltage in the voltage menu is actually very close to what you set here. Think the different resolutions do not change much to this voltage. In the pictures of Eltopo I see 18,6V where mine was 16,5V. Way to low.

It is clear that the guys that have it way to high seldom complain here with problems

Jahoeeee!!! Seems the streaking issue is solved. Just played all my test material contrast till 80 nothing!
I am now at 18V in stead of 17,3.

Yes and it is realy a huge improvement judged form what I see. Not only white is totally even now but black is too. I did not realise there was so much shortage of power in the whole system. Might still be the video cirquit too with bad caps but this is a fix that works and in time the machine does not get louder as the fans turn a little faster at the start but the machine gets less hot. I did not hear one fan spin up this time. A huge improvement.
