Okay. Done a bit of searching in the forums and can't find what I'm after.

I understand that the Graphics 808s has the non-rebuild-able Sony tubes. This brings me to a couple of questions:

Are the Sony tubes colour filtered with tinted glycol as with other Sony tubes?

Being that Curt scraps these sets if the tubes are past it - are spare parts actually available for these machines?

What's the model number of these Sony tubes? Trying to find some pictures on the net.

Thanks all!

No they are not tinted. you can take the tinted glycol out of other Sony tubes (07MS/07MP/07MSP) if you want to tint them, or get some Rosco or Lee Filter colored gel sheets from the lighting industry, and tape them in front of the tubes.

I actually have three sets of new old stock Sony tubes that drop right into those sets, at $800 per full set of RGB. I had 5 sets, and have personally installed 2 full sets. They are perfect.

As for other parts, I have zillions of everything in stock for the BG808s, until the last one leaves the face of the planet. Smile

Ah good to know that you've got parts. I think it's most feasible that if I want to upgrade an 808 of some sort will be the way to go. Regarding the tinting I've got two sets of SD-187 tubes but I think some of them may have fungus. Putting dye in the tubes seemed to hold up well last time I read up on it. I'd like my colours to be right.

To change a G808 to a G808s? Hard if not impossible to do, as the whole video chain is different. you'd be better off buying a retubed reconditioned G808s with those tubes installed from me for $1000. Use the lenses from another 808 if you have them to save some money on shipping.

Sorry to cause confusion I meant upgrade from my Barco Data 500 to an 808 of any sort. I didn't mean upgrade a G808 to a G808s. Thanks for explaining my options to me though.

Ah gotcha. Yep, you'll see a world of difference going from small 7" tubes to 8" EM focusing. No comparison! Smile
