No matter what, stick to this machine! |
Was it not you that had the diagram of those and told it had 7 peakings on those VNB.? |
Yes, it was a response to your statement that everything is better without peaking, I was to show that the right ammount of peaking is inevitable for the good performance...
When this board was new, Mike Parker checked these boards briefly at VDC and he said that these boards are masterpieces and tuned for perfection, these VNBs need a special matching VIM (because the clamping was removed from the VNB). |
Would be interesting to see the performance of a set of those neckboards, at the moment im running neckboards with 0 peaking, and they do 200Mhz without any trouble.
Whats the bandwidth of those SANYO transistors, and the old Motorola transistors, i thought they had to redesign the board as they were unable to find a transistor who matched the specs of the old Motorola.?
Special VIM.. And whats the name of that one.? |
As you can see it is a "peaking cap" -02p, with modifications, not a big deal, but still not compatible with the plain VIMs.
Scott (aka. tse) designed the new board, the output transistors are not better than the original Motorolas (~700 vs. ~1000MHz) but the driver transistors are significantly better (2,2GHz vs. 1,3GHz) and that matters more. |
Im not sure your right about the VIM, it looks very much like a standard 02VIM with the standard factory mods, who all the late 02VIM have.
Someone should try it out. |
Scott told this... maybe the difference lies only in the firmware of the board.

That one facing the other way is a 2007 8500, with only green tubes... The center one is ravaged with a CAD image... The other two tubes look untouched!
Is that weird or what... This projector is... SUPER GREEN!

I have some green C elements, and a red too... I want to try blending, but I can't find enough info yet.

What a nice driveway.
Ill have to admit im a bit jealous.
It takes some time to get around these Marquee machines, but if your willing to spend some money on them they will kill all other CRT machines out there.
Blending.. Ohh my thats a lot of work and money, how big a screen are you planing to run ?
Please pick up those lens caps while there still might be one who is not broken.

Lens caps were all broken by UPS or the packer, including about half the lenses. I've rescued the couple that are not broken.
120" AT screen. I've already got VV1 Ultra (from Curt) on my ceiling... I am trying to get the latest, and I think I did. I've been running Marquees since 2000, starting with an 8500LC.
These, even though the cases are crushed, are so new!!! Going to upgrade my others with the parts.
One question now is, are these neck boards good for the older tubes (non LUG)? I have new ones I picked up from Curt and Tim. Suppose I will have to keep the VIM and neck boards together from one of these machines...

The new neckboards are designed for LUGs, so for other tubes you might need some modification. I'm not sure but there might be jumpers on the neckboard for LCPs (the schematic shows it).

Dont know about those new neckboards, but if you want a realy sharp noise free Marquee, you need to ask Mike if he can make you a VIM and a set of neckboards, and mod a Moome card for you.

You're the one I need to talk to about Blending too...
Would a TV-One CI-7100 do the trick?? I saw a few threads but no real meat on how to do it...
Hey!!! The most crushed of these still works and has only 77 hours on it!!!!
6.1 SW... lemme seeee... Maybe I have my 9500 ' s for a Blend or Stack!!!
