Be sure to make up your mind (stock or upgrade to 9") before you hang it. The throw distance between the two is waaaaay different. That said, I would leave it stock and look for a red and green c-element and just use it.

I had asked Curt which throw chart to use for the 8500LC and he said the 9".
With that being the case the throw would be dependent on the lenses correct?

With that being the case the throw would be dependent on the lenses correct? | the throw is a formula based on your lens choice and screen size but you need to use the 8500 chart unless you swap to 9" tubes.
The marquee 8500Lc with HD lenses has some of the longest throw distances of any CRT, and if you put it where a 9500 would normally sit you will not be able to get a large enough image for your screen.

No way I would toss a NOS 8" set for a DIY 9", remember it is NOS, the magnets are still factory aligned, and probably is spot on. If it is true that the 8500LC uses P16 tubes this is especially true, even if he would push the tubes hard they will last years! |

Yeah I'm not buying the P16 tubes....that was a major mod if true. I just do not see that mode being on a 8 set.
