On the later boards this mod is already done so you'd be safe. However the repairment of the board is pretty straightforward, especially if it doesn't trip the LVPS over current circuit... ahem... everything is written down in that bulletin what you need for the repairment...

The FCM has nothing to do with STIG by the way. So either you have a problem there too, or the blue focus malfunction obscures the effect of the STIG.

Strange. If we think out load for a second, what else can cause blue stig not to work then?

You already know where the stig amp is, its control signals are born at the stigmator daughterboard (or whatever) on the CLM. Maybe you should check the ribbon cable which goes to the backplane, but I don't think that would be the problem. I really think youur bad FCM covers its effect, swap the blue focus channel with any other and then recheck if the sigmators working on the blue.

I'll try one more time later with changing the cables.

What would happen if I change the cables on the stig amp then? Took a photo of my to be on the safe side. And btw, isn't that one soldered together with the convergence board?

Sure you can swap the stig cables as well, I just didn't say it because the stigmator has relatively small effect on the picture, if you mix the stig channels you'd have to set the stig in the red menu for example for the blue tube, but the projector won't let you show the pattern only the bluel then, only along with the red so you won't see if it does anything because the red would cover it. While if you swap the focus leads they are coarser and you can set them look good enough even with all colors projected at the same time, and then you can judge the effect of the stigmators with blue only projected. I don'k know if I was clear what I mean Smile

It is possible that stig is changing but you cannot see it change unless it is defocussed

Unchanged = Working RGB focus on all 3.

Unchanged = Red and green works, blue STIG dose not.

Changed green with blue on FCM = Working red RGB focus. Blue and green dose not.

Changed green with blue on FCM = Red STIG works. Green and blue STIG dose not.

That will be all the testing for a while now.

EDIT: I got one more ARC when I first fired it up, after like 3 minutes. Image became small and big again.

You are right, I should have one, but at the same time I already changed almost every part in it. The LVPS and back plane is left.

My guess is that a spare machine would have been cheper, and shorted your troubleshooting period quite a lot..

You would be up running on a few days in worse case.
