Hello,
I want to make a rear-projection screen for my BARCO 808, 4x3 meter...Any hints/tips for making this? In case of rear projection, does this require a particular material for the screen?
Any tips/ideas are highly appreciated!

Besides Don't?
Big RP screens come in acrylic (heavy), glass (very heavy) and soft plastic, none of which are practical in home use. RP screens lacking fresnel will drop off big in the corners and sides. Thirteen feet wide is a bit much for any eight inch projector.

Stewart makes one, but it is very expensive and it may not even be available in the size you are looking at. As Tim says, it is too big and needs to be fresnel to work properly. I have never heard of DIY rear projection screens before.
I have worked with DPI Titan projectors on large Stewart rear projection setups, but even they were not as big as what you are trying to do... and that's with a Titan projector which is about 20x brighter (literally) than your projector.

I know this is for RP but I bet they could make a rigid TORUS. A high gain, 11' wide rigid TORUS would be nice but I bet that would cost a fortune. Just imagine shipping and installing either the TORUS or any RP rigid screen.

Phil Smith had one in his house. It looked really good. I think he described his set up in detail, but it has been probably six or seven years ago.

You can buy the material here in Australia from OZ Theatre screens, i dont know how good itll be, and it comes in 2 meter wide rolls. Not sure if it comes bigger, but you aint gonna want to go any bigger if you want uniform brightness.
