I need the link for those HDMI splitters. Anyone know where the post is?

I would not put too much faith in these cheap Chinese splitters ; I got one from a local guy and it lasted exactly one month then crapped out. All the while it worked I had handshake issues with my hitachi RP set which caused me to occasionally have to completely unplug the set and leave it to reset scrambled operation!

You get what you pay for !

Actually, no… You don't always get what you pay for. I'll see your anecdote and raise you one.

For over a year, I fought with my $3500 JVC projector that wouldn't handshake and reliably display a picture from my $500 Oppo BD player, $500 PS3, $100 Apple TV, or $200 DirecTV receiver with $2000 Integra preamp/processor as the switcher. That's almost $7000 worth of equipment, and it was a complete and utter disaster. Every time I switched sources, it was a roll of the dice how long I was going to have to dick with the system to get a picture back. Sometimes it was five minutes of switching inputs, power-cycling sources, power-cycling the prepro, and cursing it all. Man, was I pissed. Here's this great collection of industry-leading mid-range mainstream gear, and interoperability was a complete joke. It would have been funny if it hadn't been so disgusting.

Then, in an act of sheer desperation, I ordered the "cheap Chinese splitter" and put it into the chain and all of a sudden my system worked exactly as it should have all along. It's been in the signal chain since the day I put it in over a year ago, and it's worked flawlessly every since.

So, sometimes you spend a ton of money and absolutely DO NOT get what you paid for, and other times you spend almost nothing and get a hell of a lot more than what you paid for.

That's MY two cents.

Glad to hear you've had better luck with yours than I did! I was pretty pissed too having to put up with the crap I went through no matter how little I had paid for it lol.

We all have pretty high expectations of our tech gear these days - I guess we shouldn't complain too much about infant mortality/ poor product longevity tho as its become the norm.

... Wishing for the old days sometimes.

Yeah, OK - I'll take that over the cheap Chinese stripper anyway. Unfortunately, they're expensive, and you know what they say… If it's got t*ts or wheels, it'll give ya trouble!

"They" should probably update that to say, "If it's got t*ts, transistors, or wheels, it'll give ya trouble."

Hi,

Maybe Yours was from an inferior batch/design. Of these splitters there are lots of different versions around. I've seen at least three different designs although the boxes looked completely identical from the outside. I think it depends on the main chip which can be from different manufacturers (e.g. Silicon Image, Explore etc.) and the quality of the design and manufacturing process...
