So I finally got one of my G90s ceiling mounted this week, and the first thing I'm doing is raster centering/lens toe in, and optical/electronic focus.
As far as raster centering and lens toe in, which comes first, The manual says to reset the registration data first, then do lens toe so that the patterns align, but this seems wrong as when you reset the registration, the crosshatch patterns are way off center on each tube face. Do I just center each raster "close enough" on each tube face by eye, then do lens toe?
Also, I'm having an issue with the zone EM focus on the green tube. On the top left of the screen, there doesn't seem to be enough range to completely focus. When at "MIN" it's close but it seems like it the adjustment needs to go even lower to be where it should be. There is plenty of range on all the other zones and all the other tubes. I did the darker C element upgrade, is there a chance I bumped something loose on the neck, it seems that if this were the case there'd be more problems than just focus in a single zone..
P.S. I ordered Grahams CRT projector setup DVD in January, but other than an email saying that he was having shipping problems and will provide a secure download link instead, I haven't been able to get in touch with him. There is a good chance my payment might not have gone through, but in either case I haven't been able to make contact with him. Can anyone point me in the right direction to contact him? the only way I know of is PM on this site, which he doesn't seem to be responding to.
Regards,
Matt

Not much answers here but one question. You say it is a setup DVD but if you want to use one pixel patterns you need a 1080p testpattern I think? I am trying with the Nec and Nokia patterns but you need windows for that.

Part 1- yes, use the 'zone' adjustment to center the raster on the tube face, then do lens toe-in.
Part 2- Put on sunglasses and look into the lenses to see if that area of the tube is in focus. I use the dot pattern to set the astig, but then for final focusing use the 'EM' pattern and dial it in for no flare in any direction. If the tube face is in good focus, then you have Scheimpflug issues, which is what this probably sounds like.
Otherwise you may need to do a RAM reset (have you changed the Dallas chip??). I didn't know until last month, but there's a hidden menu in the Sony G90. If the settings are off on it, you won't get focus right, but a full reset via the pushbutton on the YA board will wipe those settings to 50%, which is where they should be.

Yes, the Dallas chip has been changed recently, I sent my old one to Craig Rounds copied though. Funny thing though, Now the in menu serial number ends in "12" it should have been "555". The other Dallas chip I had him copy and replace retained the correct serial number, even after doing a factory reset... What is this other reset you speak of, how to I access it? The reset I'm doing is to place the PJ into Service Mode (enter, enter,up,down, enter), then hold the reset button for 5 secs, then select ALL DATA, then FACTORY DATA. Although I'm sure scheimpflug will also need adjustment, I do believe there's not enough "range" to this particular zones adjustment, cause on all the other zones on this tube and all other tubes, there's a midpoint when zinging through the number that focus will get as good as it can get, then start going out of focus again. On this one zone, it's close at "MIN", but it doesn't approach a midpoint where it starts going out again. So it appears the "correct" setting is something below "MIN".
I'll grab some cheap sunglasses on the way home from work today.
Ultimately I hope to hire Craig Rounds to do a full professional calibration, maybe even a STACK, but I'm not going to be in my current residence long enough to justify the expense. In the mean time, I'm trying to learn as much as I can through experience.

The DVD i'm speaking of is not a test pattern disc, but rather a guide explaining the full setup of a somewhat similar Sony 1292. A CRT noob like me could defiantly benefit from watching it, but I cant seem to get in contact with the guy who sells it.

Matt, what email are you using? Can you send it to setup_dvd@curtpalme.com so that get a copy as well? I have no records of you emailing this address. Thanks.
Kal
