I am looking at 24 now and man this is awfully sharper! Very Happy Also much lighter more FTL it seems. I didn't measure yet.

I even have to agree that putting in a good gamma I could not see any streaking anymore really nothing.

But doing a little better setup the difference is less visible in the testpicture but still it is there and I do notice a much sharper picture in the movie.

Difference is not that big anymore? But in the first it is brighter than the last.

When I think of it the first series of pictures had very bad timings. There was a huge back porge. Would this mean that in the first case the actual bandwith was lower?

Ok I think that with the bad timings I can not compare.

But because it seems this is a port 5 improvement I will try that MP splitter soon to see if that changes the game.

I am now using a one meter VGA cable by the way. Next thing will be to use a few centimeter and a displayport extension cable.

One more dummy question. Are the barco BNC connectors 50 Ohm or 75 Ohm? I suspected 75 Ohm because it is the video standard but than I used a 50 Ohm T-connector and that worked and the plugs seem exactly the same judging from the dielectric material.

Wiki says that one can recognise 75 Ohm this way.

The barco looks this way.

So I think the BNC are 50 Ohm? But there is a lot of confusion on this subject. That is why I ask.

Hi,

I checked with the schematics. The Video Inputs are terminated with 75 Ohm internally. This applies to Inputs 3 as well as 4/5...

Ok thanks! It seems that the general opinion is that it does not much matter if the connector is 50 or 75 Ohm. My VGA to BNC cable seems to be RG59 so 75 Ohm but the connectors are also 50 Ohm.

From my own experience it seems that reflections play a role if the cable length is 20 times the wave length. So with short VGA cables it would not be notable however if we go to the very high bandwidths that we are reaching for now it might become a problem these connectors so I will try to bypass them completely and solder the connections to the inside.

When reflections don't play a role the only thing that matters is the capacity of the cable and than again the shorter the better.

For now I ordered a 30 cm VGA to BNC cable and 1 meter displayport extension. I think it might matter to have these cables very short so no reflections enter into the game and capacity remains low.

A iphone 4s but I keep being disappointed at the picture quality but on the other hand my setup might not be so good yet.

When I have full white I think I see scanlines but they are not very clear and the grain of the screen makes it more difficult and than there is mosquito noise so perhaps I don't even have scanlines yet????

Ok, yesterday I did a complete new setup and I am half way with the port 4 setup. I noticed the following.

-when going in focus from 0 to 100 the middle of the dots stayed in the middle being dark or light. I have them the sharpest at 58 like the manual says but why 58 and not 50?
-doing sheimpflugg I was able to get everything evenly sharp and the bolts could be twisted only a little further. So the MAx hangst as right as possible. However if I would have a split pack I would try hanging it lower and horizontal to the screen Wink
-the timings where a little to small in porches and the picture folded a bit around the edge even after horizontal phasing. Is this a problem?

Now I have to do geometry and convergence again.

One more thing the electronic focus top and bottom are on 50 and not 58. Is that ok? Aaarch stupid question Very Happy

One mor more thing I don't see why there is a ferrite bead on the cable. That one works as a low pass so I will remove it in time Wink

Ok, I do see scanlines Very Happy

It is a lot sharper especially text is a lot better to read, the characters are blacker.

It is visible in the testimage.
see below.

However there is also some kind of background jitter when contrast and brightness are on zero, the raster is flickering and there are lines. Could this be something with sync is it normal perhaps?

The focus setting should be where it is at its sharpest, dont worry too much about what number it is Wink

Just green.

Also I removed the ferrite bead and a new T-connector and it seems there is less noise looking in the tube with zero brightness and contrast. Overall the noise is not better or worse than with the internal is my feeling but I found the internal full of mosquitos.

When you post the SMPTE 1:1 please add the pixel clock or at least the resolution and framerate.
