I had the same problem. I solved it with changing smps. so I tought problem was smps. but faulty smps works fine in another cine9. strangly there was a good combination between smps and quadrupler. I could see the line in high contrast scene. when I downed contrast under 50, lines disappeared. I think it's HV arc near quadrupler.

There is controls for that, its in the picture menu, select custom instead of one of the preset kelvins.

Oh man I selected 6500K and indeed there is custom so that is the trick thanks!

By the way the picture is still amazing I think the effect mentioned earlier must have something to do with gamma because it is less now.

Just two shots with the phone.

Tell me, does your set squeal from around the area of the quad? Mine did, and i get simular lines top and bottom, more so top, and if you bring up the crosshatch convergence pattern, it had a very slight waving in some areas.

Yes that certainly is the same thing in the image. I will check if contrast has an influence. Strange thing was the line disappeared spontaneous one time while pauzing.

Perhaps unrelated but I have other strange things going on. When I was doing astig in the menu and I had green defocussed with the sharpness button than I went to blue and defocused blue and the whole menu seemed to disappear the picture tha. Became black and resetting sharpness everything returned after some time. The same thing happened in the gamma menu while maxing some setting. It happened to me on blue sharpness several times. I thought it might be software bugs but I am getting a little woried the Max is behaving strange.

I just write the whole story perhaps someone recognises it?

All this happened while contrast was high!

As I know your Barco it's certainly not the tubes or glycol or whatsoever. I also don't think it's the PJ itself. Either it's somewhere in your source chain or RGB2 card.

For greyscale start main menu selected source > picture tuning > select D6500 (factory setting) > then you'll see that you can adjust red - green - blue low-end and high-end. Leave green only adjust red and blue. start with 80% pluge pattern 10% white field, adjust high-end aka gain control to get it right on d65 with continues readings. adjust low-end on 30% pluge, go back and forth with these 30 and 80 IRE adjustments. breakpoint and slope is for further fine tuning.

Whats your FTL reading on 80% and 100% white ?

I missed this one yesterday Very Happy

The FTL was supprisingly very low with contrast on 50. I did not realy notice a dimm picture but I put contrast on 70 to get 11 FTL if I remember well.

Ok will try greyscale again I was in the wrong menu it seems. Hope I did not change unrecoverable settings? Anyway probable they where off already in the gamma menu.

Also checked that my source (macbook pro) put out an uncorrected gamma. Don't know if the hdmi card does a gamma correction?

But anyhow it might be HV related. I am thinking it seems greenish and than magentaish so perhaps green is fluctuating?

Ive never been able to get mine to be very good due to the blue tube being stuffed, and my green has all kinds of uneven burn in all over it from the previous owner.

You are mentioning a good point. Perfection certainly comes with a price. Anyway I will try my former EHT (perhaps that one is better tuned and it is fixed anyway). I might try my spare quad if the cables are long enough. The splitter was changed before and does not have user settings and desoldering seems a risk to me.

My red spare tube is laying around but this one has zero wear so I don't see why I would go through the trouble. Perhaps when everything else is fixed Very Happy

Made a new picture of the same scene. It is almost gone by changing the gamma. But in some other scenes it is still very visible.
I tried the EHT board and that was not it. Will try the quad but the quad does not make any sound.

One question about the quads just to be sure.

The Cine Max quad has number R763368
The quad out of my 809 had number R762717

Is there a risk this quad will blow up in the Max? Very Happy

Also there is the focus wire that I can not plug into something. Wrapping some tape around it and hanging it some distance from the metal will that be save or will it spark?

I would NOT change the quad with a different part number !

Additional to that the Cine 9 and BR 909 do not have the red wire which can be found in the 8 inch sets maybe also the 1209s.

Ok well I did and it worked ok Very Happy I remember that Curt said they where compatible.

But it did not fix the problem. However I finally found the right menu and did a greyscale and after that it became much less visible. I am not sure why. Perhaps differences in light do not produce differences in color anymore?

A few questions on the greyscale.

First: green was not on 50 - 50 but on 50 - 69 or so. However it followed a perfect 2.2 gamma.

Second I only get 7,9 FTL with contrast on 70. When I switch to full screen white it becomes a little lower (7,1) but not very much. Could this mean that the smps can not deliver enough power?

Third I see a lot of little mosquito lines close on the screen.

different gamma makes different overall light output.

I think this makes noise line less visible.

I had same experience when I adjusted moome gamma control.

Well I also checked if contrast had an influence and it seemed that it did not get worse with higher contrast. At 50 it was the most visible.

But I guess my peaking light output is way to low at 70 contrast with new tubes. So this all seems to suggest that the SMPS is not providing enough power?

Could it be a matter of renewing the elco's on the smps power supply?

Yes the quad worked but the 'streaking' did not get less. Sad

But now I know for sure I have a spare quad.

Does it appear on every tube ?

Could you check for each color ?
