Congrats with your nice machine.
Because you used long fixing rods, you have the luxury to start with the screen position first.
For a comfortable viewing experience, the middle of the screen ( vertical middle ) should be a bit higher ( 30cm ) than your eyes.
Than Barco Lens program gives us the following data, knowing that your screen is 254cm wide in 16:9 config. With HFQ900 lenses :
- distance from screen to first fixing holes = 361cm
- negative ceiling distance = 21cm . In your situation, negative distance it means projector is higher than the screen.
Because the Lens program is very conservative regarding phosphor usage, the most Barco owners will place the projector aprox. 10cm closer to the screen in order to use maximum phosphor horizontaly.
Keystone adjustments you will have to use anyway, unless your projector will be "on axis".

10cm closer on a CineMAX will hardly change a thing.

By having the lenses fitted while raising and lowering it helps to keep the machine reasonably level.

Yeah and while i agree, if the camera is set correctly on the CineMAX, it does a pretty darn good job..

Thanks!
About the Barco lens program I only have one Windows pc left with windows 7 some version and I can't get the program to install or unpack. Tried every compatibility setting available giving all rights. If someone has an extracted version that I can try that would be nice!
The above data given by me is not completely correct I have a screen 100 inch diameter. The width is 221cm.
But I guess to keep the top of the lens on the top of the screen is a good aim for now.

That's because Windows 7 is a 64 bit OS and Lens program is 16 bit based. XP (32 bit) and earlier OS's did not had a problem with that.
You should download two thing in order to use Lens with Windows 7. I use it the same way:
1. Windows virtual PC
2. Windows XP modus
Than you start in XP modus and you will be able to download and use Lens

I get it. However, the genuine check is for Windows 7, not XP. Nevermind, here the numbs for 221 cm width :
- distance to screen = 318,4cm
- negative correction value = 22,6cm
The best thing to do is maximize and center the rasters ( with zero blanking ), than move the PJ to or from the screen till the green raster will overshoot the screen by 20cm on both sides. Move it up or down to center the raster on the screen.
That's the best position to enjoy the full potential of a CRT projector.
Take care you use only the raster for aiming, not a active picture within the raster.

Thanks again! Finally those numbers....
I raised the screen till 50cm above the floor. When I find the right height I will shorten the iron thread so I can move the projector sideward (I hope ).
Almost there.....
Great how you can mount the tubes in the Barco. With my Marquee that was not so easy. Now I just click the tube in.

This screen distance is from the front of the projector I hope? With maximising the raster I came at a much closer distance but I had the picture pretty big too. I might have to make it a little smaller moving backward a little. I have some cm left I hope it is enough. If not I will simple do the whole exercise again

Looking good.
The projection distance is from screen to front iron threads. About 3m should be ok.
Keep in mind that moving the projector backwards, your picture will be bigger, not smaller.

Ok, that makes sense than I'm 20cm forward. About moving backward I ment that I maximised the raster but the real picture will be a little smaller than I have to move backward a little I suppose to compensate.

Use the active image to set the size on the tubeface.

Ok, I think I understand. Even if the raster is a bit too large or to close to the edges than the image with blanking will make that right again. I shall try to make some pictures when I'm on it.

Yeah mate its the image you need to set up, cause that rarely fills the raster enough to just use that to judge.

Yes indeed. You light the tubes with a max. width raster only ( you don'n wanna do that with a active image ) for a bit wider but symetric ilumination on the screen and finaly, you adjust the active image by means of horiz. size and blanking.
Damn, those are still good looking projectors. Eye candy......[/b]

My favorite CRT projector. So sexy. Would have loved to have had one before I switched. Alas, it wasn't to be.

It's a shame i'll have to hide mine ( BR909, no shiny logo but still.. ) under a floor hush-box.
Such a machine must be seen but i have no choice.
Case, you painted yourself or you let it prof. done ?
