One question. I think it is perfectly normal but the middle fan on the back does not spin at start. It is the horizontal deflection unit fan. I suppose that one will spin when this HD unit gets hot? Just to be sure. I see no fan fail in the diagnosis.

Thanks!
I think I made her a lot quieter by putting some blue tac under the corner screws. These screws are rubber decoupled but not enough. A certain tone that was in the whole chasis is now absent it seems
original like this

One more question. I bought some boards that I don't fully understand. They are Mike Parker modified but I don't know if I can use both in the Cine MAX? On the picture to the left are the driver and switcher that are now in the MAX. On the right are the boards that are clearly Cine 8 boards but perhaps they also work in the Cine MAX? Thanks!

I think the switchers are interchangable and the driver boards have the numbers 762720 and 7627205 so almost the same. The guy that sold them said that they should work but he had a Cine 8.

Wait for an expert on that one, they may or maynot work.

I am not in a hurry Just watched a movie afrer a better setup. Subtitles where clear now just as clear as digital. The one pixel patterns were visible and didn't see much difference in brightness vertical or horizontal but I don't know what to look for yet. Just seen a very very very great movie.

I can tell you it was an experience like walking through these mountains myself having bullets flying over my head!
Also the fan mod does work. The noise is a little lower I find it less irritating and mostly wind blowing now. These fans have to stif rubber contacts or it might be that this rubber has lost its flexibility over time? I tried just using blue tac without the screws but that was not sticky enough.

Yours must be missing the rubber mounts mine has is it? Mine is pretty quiet all the time even when that fan starts up.

I love this topic and will follow it closely. I always love a nice set up and how they go about it setting it up.

Thanks! Still a lot work left to be done with the astig.
I still do not know for sure if the MP modded boards work in a Cine 9.
As for the switcher I understand that the switchers are compatible between Cine 8, 808s and Cine 9?
For the driver I am less sure the number for a Cine 9 board is barco 76-27205 and this board is a 76-2720 board. Will I damage anything trying this board?
Form the Cine 9 section: "With certain models, the EHT board, quadrupler, splitter and RGB switcher boards will swap between the 808 and 1208 models. The rule of thumb is, if the 761XXX or 762XXX board numbers are the same, they will switch. If they are different, DO NOT substitute the boards."

The switcher boards R7627195 or R762719 are available in the Cine 8 so those boards would appear to be interchangable. There is no mention of the driver board though so that could mean either Barco didn't want the Cine 8 to be too close on paper to the Cine 9 or its not compatible. I would take a guess and say it would work but that's a guess.
Physically the two driver boards look more alike than the two switcher boards.
Do you have the circuit diagrams for the driver board if no-one actually knows?

When playing stuff in 1080p the middle fan starts at some time but no comparison to a BR 909.
Much less noise on the Cine9.

I have a circuit diagram for the R76-2720 and for the R76-27205 and when I compare the connectors there are few differences.
J1 (connector frame): INT_I2C is missing and HFB is missing on the 2720
J2 (connector frame): HTHD1 and HTHD2 are missing on the 2720 and I see a -19V that is -17V on the 2720
Have not figured out what these signals do.
On the other hand on the MP switcher opamps have been replaced and it seems on the driver too. So these boards are interesting to test!
The connectors of the switchers seem the same.

Yes I hear that too and idead they are rather silent. I also hear the fans in the convergence tray spin up now and than. That is normal too I suspect. They spin much faster and have a higher sound.

The MP modded RGB input board will work in Cine 9.
Here Mike's post from five years ago:
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=18450.html
Not 100% sure about the RGB driver board. Shoot Mike a PM, he will tell for sure.
Don't forget before working on static astigmatism to neutralize the dinamic astig first.
A reset to midposition in the service menu will put everything to 49, with exception of dinamic astig.
You have to manualy put din. astig to 49 ( axial and diagonal in all zones ).
Than take care of static astig ( magnet rings on tube neck ) and when done, bring your dots to perfection with dinamic astig.
