I've had a higher end CRT projector in my home whose make and model shall remain unspecified to avoid accusations of selling.
But I have posted multiple ads on AVS forum for the remaining parts. The lenses went quickly two years ago and one green tube. But I have a blue and tube and enough cards to almost fill two projectors. And I the shell on my unit is rare and coveted by owners of this particular brand.

Is the CRT market just totally dead? Should I give up trying to sell them? I don't really want to make money on these but I want to cover the cost of shipping and a reasonable amount to cover the time it will take me to get boxes and packing and wrap...essentially shipping and handling. I'd probably just hand them off to a fellow owner in Los Angeles if they had use for them and would come pick them up. Plus Extron stuff. Its just seemed so wasteful throwing them in the garbage.

If you dont state the names, no one will give a damn what youve got.

The deal is no "working" projector sales. A projector with no green tube and no lenses isnt going to work all that well.

+1
If it's a Barco 909, or a Sony G90, it still can go for good prices even in parts, other than that it depends purely your luck.

I don't want to be obtuse on the details but I have been having to seriously think about junking it.
A couple years ago I mentioned my parts as being available . I got a note that the post had been deleted because it was not allowed because it was competing with Curt's repair business. Its possible I might have mentioned my working 1271, but I'm not sure that was the case. I was actually surprised to get the letter and have stayed away from mentioning it again here. I like Curt, I've met him and even dined with him. I don't want to be disrespectful or competition so I post in the want ads section of AVS Forum.

If the rule is no working projector sales its a G70VR with a black case.

well it's almost certainly the case because anyone and everyone has been able to sell parts since day 1 on the FS section and no exceptions that I've ever seen

No working projector sales please! Projector parts, non-working projectors, and anything else is ok.
actually, even if you posted a working 1271 there for free now Curt wouldn't care.

Atomic, the G70VR might have piqued some interest if it was complete and working. With no green tube and lenses, it's just a parts unit, post away!

Dragan is right, a Sony 127X set or 125X set is pretty much worthless at this point. I sold one last year to a Karaoke bar that I'd sold a 1270 to about 7 years ago, and it was used so much that the tubes were shot. I sold it for $800 installed, and it was a 5 hour round trip job for 2 guys, so I probably still lost money given what I'd paid to get it here in the first place. Smile

If you want to part out the 1271, feel free to do that too!

I sold the 1271 for two hundred bucks I think which was bonus money because I had already sold it to someone previously for 450, but he gave it back to me plus a clean blue tube when he moved.

What i have is about enough cards to fill two G70 units most are good but one or two are bad. I just don't know which.
I have a blue tube which i'll try to snap a photo of which has light wear. I think it would rate about 8.5. I could see some yellowing in the center when viewing. The red is good of course and then I have the black shell which I know is both unusual and desirable. I'd ship with it any rgbhv cables and related

If I sent all of it off what I am after is to recoup the cost of packing materials and postage fees and then fifty bucks to make it worth my while.

But if people needed individual cards or something which is much easier to send then shipping costs and the handling would be at most twenty dollars.

I am in the same boat. I have a working G70 with good tubes and another that I parted out (bad tubes). Crabb found someone local to him to buy his G70 for a couple of hundred dollars, but I think that is rare these days. I have some friends that I may give it to on semi-permanent loan i.e. if I desperately need it back.

I guess then tomorrow I'll just toss it in the dumpster at work tomorrow. Maybe covered with a tarp in case someone suddenly says "Noooo! I want that tube." There were times when I needed a replacement or repair part so desperately. Its sad to see a great toy in the dumpster and this was the best toy I think I ever had....Well the 1270s were the best. Never a problem. This one was a bit of a pain in the butt at times.

First of all, AVS hasn't been the place to get rid of anything CRT-related for years. There is only a handful of CRT guys left on AVS, while the other 95% are here.

Second, "Should I just give up" doesn't tell anybody jack, so few of the people who are here won't see this.

Before you just throw the stuff in the trash, at least post an actual listing in the buy/sell section. Somebody is bound to want the stuff and be willing to either pick it up since you're in a large metro area, or more likely pay for shipping for at least the boards. I'd recommend something like "Sony G70 parts - FREE", make a list of the boards you have, and ask for shipping. No guarantees, but somebody should be willing to pay for shipping, I would think.
