I'm interested in the non-babe CRT/HT calendar and I'd pay up to $15.

Great - that's another. I'm jealous - I'm still a couple of months away. I feel like it's so close (given how many years I've been waiting), yet SO far away (given all the hundreds of little details and probably another couple hundred hours of work ahead of me.

Oh, sweet - I completely forgot about Art. We definitely have to put the stack in the calendar if he's up for it! Might be fun to use some shots of Cliff's Blendzilla meet on a page, too - I wish I could have been there for that.

I'll PM Cliff and Art - somebody wanna check in w/Gino?

There's two calendars we're talking about. The babes/boobs calendar is a ways off because the logistics are difficult. Pete has to line up both a theater and a model, and get there to shoot it - 12 times. So you can see how it might take 6-12 months just to get the photos. Whenever you have to coordinate 3 schedules (model/owner/photographer), it isn't something you can bang out one of every day.

So, in the interim, I was thinking a regular CRT/HT calender with one of Pete's girls on each page pasted in the corner or whatever might be cool in the meantime. If you don't want one, you don't have to buy one. Wink

6-12 months? He can just walk onto any university and find a 10-20 young girls with the appropriate attribute willing to make some small change for the affair. He can do this as a draft/beta and then spend the time on the refined G2 edition. Very Happy

Te girls are easy (pun intented) but traveling to "worth" theathers is the difficult part (almost said hard)

I have gigs of pictures but the setting is not in a HT.

Guys,

Here's a quick mockup of what I had in mind for a first shot at a calendar. Thanks to Clarence for his HT pics (I hope he doesn't mind - I didn't really ask), and thanks to Pete for letting me use one of his photos. In the real calendar, all photos would be prominently credited, of course. Just thought I'd see what you guys thought.

Top 3 reasons nobody's commented on the calendar mock-up:

1) It's too early in the morning
2) I'm too worried about global warming and the trade imbalance to care about a stupid CRT calendar
3) The calendar idea just sucks in general - give it up

I like the Idea, and the mock up. I think the G90 in chains looks a little like S&M though.

i like the mockup a lot. i really do. i wouldn't want all 12 to be exactly the same and for me that would be a challenge. getting 12 pages of pictures that all had the same feel - bunch of photos scattered about, postit with the specs - without all 12 being a boilerplate.

i'd like to see small icons in the "moth part" to indicate special days - valentine's, Christmas, newyears, turkeyday (both of them), Curt's birthday - you get the idea.

i'm really hesitant about the lingerie shot. now don't get me wrong, i like nekkid ladies as much as the next guy, but with even as mild a shot as that, i'd be uncomfortable about putting that calendar up at work, or even in the house where a grandma type might swing by. that picture relegates the calendar into my "bat cave" (workshop). i'd hate that to happen.

all that said, remember, i really like the layout. very slick. i'd also like to offer up my theater into the mix. it should be done in the proverbial "soon" as i hope to hang the surround amps this weekend and then all that is left is the hush box...

good work man.

Wow! Ecrabb: That's some very nice graphics work. Well done!

I say skip the babe photo too... it doesn't make any sense and really has nothing to do with the rest of the shots. I love the idea of one large overall shot with a bunch of small ones showing different aspects of the HT with the post-it note. Very nice.

Another comment: Screenshots as some of the smaller shots is a nice idea but I think it's better to have a shot that shows more of the HT in action (possibly with a double exposure). Otherwise there's no scale or anything and it could as simply be a grab of a PowerDVD frame off the computer. For example: The picture with Clarence in the shot makes sense since you see how large the screen is.

Kal

Thanks for the comments, guys. The calendar (month) part I used was just a print from my calendar program for a mockup. The real one is much nicer.

I agree on the babe shots... I was just trying to make everybody happy. She would just kind of be the "honorary HT babe of the month" kind of thing - like a babe next to the car in a car magazine... and Pete has lots of less scantily clad images. But, I'm more than happy to save the babe shots for a special "boobs and tubes" calendar down the road and just make this one specifically CRT/HT-related for now. That way, the calendar can go anywhere - including work - without worrying about upsetting Grandma or having a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against you at the office.

So, the calendar I was thinking about and designed the mockup to is the basic CafePress calendar - it's $14.99. US holidays are marked on it (sorry, guys up north!).

Quote:
Keeping track of important dates on your calendar is easy when you can view 12 months of inspiring images that reflect your personal interests. Our high-quality calendar is printed on thick 100lb cover weight paper and adds impact to any room.
  • Each page measures 8.5" x 11"
  • Measures 11" x 17" when hung on wall
  • Full bleed dynamic color
  • 100 lb cover weight high gloss paper, wire-o bound
  • January 2007 - December 2007, 2008 preview, US holidays marked

Here's a bigger version to see what the month actually looks like:

The have a couple of other options...
This one is $16.99, 11x17, and has the image larger (11x11) and the calendar part smaller:

And this one that's $18.99, is 17x22 opened up (image is a huge 17x11):

I thought the smallest one was nice because it was cheapest and because we won't have the highest-resolution (or highest quality) photos to use.

Now all we need are more volunteers with nice photos. The clock's ticking - the calendars are 2007 calendars and we've already burnt the first month!
