Oops, Kal - I meant "your personal pics" as in "any and all of your personal pics", i.e. addressed to everybody - not just YOUR personal pics. Not that your theater isn't MORE than worthy... It will definitely be included.
My room is going to be a lot smaller, but just so you know, I hope it turns out HALF as nice looking as yours - in fact, your basement has a similar feel to what I'm going for. Kudos.
Alright, guys - I'll do the work designing the calender and making it something you actually want to look at. If everybody just posts a link or three to the coolest high-res photos of CRT/HT you can find... anything CRT projector or CRT HT is game if it's an attractive photo and decent resolution. Post a link here or email them to my gmail account...

Question, do we want to see first if we can get 12 or so forum member theaters that we like before branching out. Could be a cool yearly competition to get your CRT theater into the forum cal.

Makes sense to me Dave.
We'll also need to contact the owners to get nice hi-rez pics (anything you find displayed on a web page won't be high enough rez to print on an 8x10" calendar).
Landscape shots would be preferred to, but not required (to fill the pages better).
I think the challenge will be not finding 12 HT's we like, but getting someone to take good pictures of them (ie: using a good camera with good lighting).
Kal

I don't want to see joe shmoes multimillion dollar theater. I want to see 12 theaters from members here that are obtainable by the rest of us with a little work. Just average nice setups.

Hear, hear! Great idea! How about an equipment description from the member to go along with it?
I'd pay $20 for that.

I considered that but figured it would be too difficult to pick exactly 12 theaters... let alont 12 that we HAVE good pictures of or that the owner is capable of taking pictures of.
As for format and such, I can design it "photo album" style so it doesn't have to be exactly 12 horizontal pics. One nice horizontal would be good, though.
I agree with the sentiment that we don't want to see a bunch of megabuck theaters. You can buy a Theo book and see that... to me, it's like looking at pictures of Ferraris or supermodels - they're all totally unattainable for a mere mortal like myself. It's bittersweet because it excites me and depresses me at the same time.
So, if we do the "theater of the month" thing (which is a great idea, I might add), we have to pick 12 theaters somehow and then need at least one, but preferably 2-3 good pics of each. Room bio (equipment) description, room size, notable features, etc. is a cool idea, too. It'll be like a theater "centerfold". Instead of "calendar girls", it's "calendar theater"... with a zphoto mascot/sponsor on each one, I might add.
If we do the "CRT/HT photo album" thing I envisioned, we can just do a mish-mash of CRT/HT stuff. Definitely not as cool of an end product, but much easier logistically to produce.
Opinions? I know you guys got 'em!

I'll start a post here that I can edit to see if we can come up with a list of 12. I nominate Kal's first because I know he has some good photos and it's a nice room. So, the requirements are 1) CRT-based theater (why else would you be here?), 2) Nice/cool room that others want to see, 3) Nice photos available or the ability to get them. We'll see if we can even get 12, first. If we get more, we can vote or something.
Other nominations?

Both you and Kal have pointed this out. This is a very valid point and one I didn't consider. I guess we can see.
Perhaps we need a way to submit photos to the calendar committee (that would be you) and the best can be voted on or something.

Kal, to get a free calendar would mean somebody would actually have to buy one... fat chance.
Uh oh. I'm a committee now? What's that old saying... no good deed...
Everybody reading the thread should be committed - wait, I mean, should be the committee as far as I'm concerned. At this point, I suspect we'll have a tough time even coming up with 12, but there's only one way to find out. At the rate we're going here, I'll have my theater finished...

My theatre is decorated in the "Open Joist and bare concrete floor" style at present.
I use my dogs for acoustical control by placing their beds at the primary reflection points.
The windows are covered by irregularly cut black polyethylene held in place with green jiffy tacks.
Since no one else has volunteered I guess that makes Chez Chuck #2.
Not.

Same situation, here. I could take some really nicely lit high-resolution photos of a projector hanging from open joists. That'd be sweeeeeettttt....
I can't even take any scren shots anymore - last week, I took my temp screen down to get all the wiring in the screen wall. I have to keep telling myself, "Quit playing with the equipment and get back to work building the room - the fun stuff is just around the corner... really... it is."
Hey, I could include my Sketchup renderings of what the room WILL look like. If we don't get anything better, that'll have to do. Better start giving us some better material to work with, people.

Well, mine is OK, but certainly not great. A very functional cave--no movie posters on the walls (acoustic panels instead), not fancy columns, etc. I keep saying that I'll take pics after "one more thing" get's done, but maybe I could throw some out there.

I've had my G90 for a year-and-a-half but my HT photos still had the Marquee until a couple of weeks ago when I decided to take a new picture with the 3rd-row bar I finally built during the New Year's holiday...
Maybe Pete can schedule a local model for a photo shoot here next time he comes to town.
And I could include a screenshot with the model standing next to the screen instead of me...

Now *THAT* I'd like the see! Swimsuit models and screenshots! I think we figured out a subject for the second round of calendars.

I updated the list of 12. I put Chuck's and mine at the bottom since they're studs and insulation right now. Hopefully, we'll get knocked off by real finished rooms. But, hey - if not...
Clarence, if you want, send me the high-res images for those first two shots you posted along with the vitals on your room (room size, screen size, notable equipment, etc.). I'd like to mock up a page so you guys can see what I have in mind. I'll tag Pete to send me a swimsuit shot as your mascot of the month - do you have any preferences, Clarence?
Kal, get some new shots taken! Let's make this happen!

I thought this was going to be a CRT calendar, as opposed to a HT calendar. I wanted to see close-ups of hot chicks chilling on an open G90, nipples freezing next to a blue tube. Making a HT calendar would be boring, and get copied by the flashlight crowd.

There's two calendars we're talking about. The babes/boobs calendar is a ways off because the logistics are difficult. Pete has to line up both a theater and a model, and get there to shoot it - 12 times. So you can see how it might take 6-12 months just to get the photos. Whenever you have to coordinate 3 schedules (model/owner/photographer), it isn't something you can bang out one of every day.
So, in the interim, I was thinking a regular CRT/HT calender with one of Pete's girls on each page pasted in the corner or whatever might be cool in the meantime. If you don't want one, you don't have to buy one.

Calender is awsome idea. For good screenshots, double exp. is the way to go. If using digital camera, shoot theatre room with balance set to indoor or 3200K. Use tripod. for screenshot; set balance to 6500K (or daylight if there is no 6500K setting), pick the image you want and pause the player. Shoot at f:5.6 or f:8 for best sharpness. Use tripod. If your PJ is calibrated color balance should be bang on.
