You're lucky!
I run a fairly busy forum where this sort of thing is discussed. 15kHz-capable monitors died out long before LCDs came along, and have been exceedingly hard to find for most of us gamers since forever. To the point that the ones that did work were quite well known (older NEC Multisync for example). The general advice is: assume they don't.

I had a few LCDs that took 15.7kHz via their RGB input but not the DVI, all were no name brands except the LG.

I learned two things tonight, while fiddling with the projector.
1. If it's closer to the wall, it's brighter. Way brighter.
2. If you haven't given the signal a name, don't bother setting anything up, it'll just reset when the signal source does. Was near to raging when I figured it out. =)

#2 was #2 huh?
Sounds like me doing the 191 point alignment on my RPTV and forgetting to hit "SAVE" before I exited

Its not just closer to the wall thatll make it brighter, using more tubeface area will make it brighter too.
Dont forget to do full mechanical alignment prior to anything electronic, i can show you how to do it all properly sometime if you like.

Yeah, the first thing I did was max out the tube area, the previous owner was using a very small area. Unfortunately that's when I noticed the burn-in for the first time. ;_;
I just might take you up on that. =)

The book tells the installation distance wrong, which would explain minimal usage area. You dont want to go overboard though.
Its really not difficult to set up the XG very well, but can be really hard to explain without taking heaps of pics etc, so easy to just show you

So I learned another new thing tonight: shiny surfaces are a -ton- better for viewing than the flat white wall I was using. The vibrance and contrast of the silver foil insulation was unbelievable. Unfortunately it's rubbish, too bumpy and there are bars interrupting the image, but WOW. I need a proper screen or something. Any recommendations?
Case: Definitely keen to have you show me how it works, as soon as I figure out how I'm going to use it. No point having you show me the ropes if I haven't worked out where the ropes actually are.
But maybe you can give me a tip on this one:
Why is that bottom right corner so droopy? It's always like that, as if the previous owner had the thing set up at an odd angle, but I can't work out how to fix it.

We are in the same sohe, I am also just setting up my XG1351, had a 9PG xtra before that.
Have you checked the focus bal under the ref. adjustments? It can make the picture look similar I think...
