Well, this would fit in the 'buy&sell' section much better, otherwise if you would indicate where are you and what are your concept from the prices of the part, how are the condition, the xg is an LC or AC model, etc...

thanks | well Curt doesn't want working projector sales, so you can give either one away by listing a FREE add. Or, you can part them out and sell the parts, tubes, boards, lenses are always in demand.
If the XG is working, complete, I would sell it on Videogon, it's free http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/fs.pl?projcrta
and give away the 1252

No idea, just inquiring if there is any interest, the nec is the air coupled model.
due to age I suspect the only place that might be interested is the local land fill
The Nec has a 1997 build date, the sony is probably around the same time

If you part it out, I'd take the system board from the NEC. I'm slowly getting rid of my Sony 12XX parts due to minimal demand at this point.

I have a 1252 and a mate to it might be fun.
What city do you live in/near?
Upgraded?

No point being pessimistic; it probably would't work anyway.

I'm not sure whether to consider it an upgrade but I did buy a little DLP about a year ago to have something to watch while I sorted out some issues with my Ampro. Finally scrapped the Ampro and bought a 9500 from Curt.

yup, I upgraded to an epson 3 panel lcd pj, now I can display 1080P and 3D with up to 2800 lumens.
The Nec was getting soft in focus and anything above 1600x1200 was too dark and blury to watch.
I was also getting tired of spending several hours (typically 2 to 4) every other month performing convergence calibration.
The Nec was in need of replacement green and eventually a blue tube but the final straw was when on osd board failed making any adjustments impossible. I felt it was time to move into the next century.
Many might say the image quality on a lcd projector is poorer that what a crt projector can offer, but seriously, I'm not seeing any thing that makes the upgrade a deal breaker. The pj offers deep black, bright whites, sharp focus (yes I can display a spreadsheet and actually be able to read it),
3d is fantastic and setup is done in minutes instead of hours. Also the new pj uses less electricity, runs quieter and produces less heat than the Nec.
The only downside is I'll have to replace a $150 light bulb and air filter pair every other year. I'm running low power mode and fan on high so I should get around 4000 hours.
If any one is interested in the sony w/ new tubes plus spares or the nec im me. I'm not really interested in parting them out, too time consuming and I'd rather find them a new home in working condition. If the new owner want to part them I say go for it.

The DLP once plugged in, turned on, and connected, I could hold my breath for the time it takes to setup. I guess I'm lucky; some people complain about "rainbows" when watching a DLP. I don't quite understand so obviously I don't see them.
Still ,I'm not ready to give up on CRT.
Do you live anywhere near Toronto?

I hope someone closer offers these units a home.
I wouldn't have admitted to having any interest in them if Curt hadn't already said he wasn't interested. Installing even a give away could displace the sale of a working unit from Curt. Since I just bought one from him that's not the case.
Anyway I hate to see a piece of any kind of equipment go in the trash ( you should see my garage).
Any way I hope someone out there steps up.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's getting harder to justify shipping even higher-end CRT projectors. Curt's sales are probably almost exclusively 9-inch machines at this point.

| definitely shouldn't go in a land-fill, and it's illegal in most states due to the heavy metals on the circuit boards. Find an electronics recycler if no one from craigslist or the forum wants them
