I would recommend using standard (default) output levels (16-235) out of the PC and adjusting in the projector.

No, you don't want that, unless if you like grey backgrounds

No you don't if you set the projector up correctly. It makes no difference really if you use 16-235 or 0-255 at the source, as long as the project is set up to match.

Yes, but on a PC everything else is displayed in 0-255, while you are right with the setup you don't notice the difference with movies but you will with everything else (menu, desktop, games...) so it is just better to project movies in 0-255 as well IMHO.

The Op's original post was clear and concise to the question and could be simply answered. I cannot believe everyone going all over the place. Just funny.

I dont believe posting a row of emoticons is a question at all, and the question asked in the heading may well be clear and concise, but is very much incomplete.

Exactly, you can debate it cause in his first post he gives no indication as to what machine and over what time span.
The fact of the matter is, no "useable" contrast or brightness level is maintainable for ever and a day, so one needs to ask a realistic question, or one must accept that there will be a different answer for every different interpretation of those 5 emoticons.
